hey guys, just seeing if any of your Fbasses out there are equipped with either a Roland or RMC(?) 13 pin synth?? Iam leaning towards the Roland as i get to keep the Fbass preamp...unlike, if you use the RMC...my prof has the RMC 13pin synth and it is amazing...yet I truly beileve I need the use of the on board preamp more times than not!!!...I would say 90% of gigs require on board preamp. Any pics or information would be great...thanks

**ps i need to decide in the next day, so that George can accomodate body style for fitting the 13 pin

thanks for the input

I'm using the Roland GK-3B with a gr-55. The Roland pup does track well. Thought about buying the GK-3B internal kit and have George do a perm install but went with the outboard module instead. I think there were some close-up pics of Alain Carons BN6 with with the internal pup installed on here in a earlier section of this thread.

The only thing..and maybe George can answer this better is the exposed core strings and the GK-3. The GK is a six way divided pick up (Six independent pickups, one for each string) and I was told that the exposed core strings dont work well with the pup, So I bought and started using DR strings. The pup works best getting it as closed to the bridge was possible where the string tension and vibration is at its tightest. Now, I have not tried it with the exposed core yet, if it does work I can switch back but so far I like my results with the DRs!

I would like to change the topic to stands...I have an old Quik Lok, I like it because of it's size and the fact that the bass rests on it at the body, not the neck like most stands.

The problem with it is the bass needs to be rested on a slight angle from vertical, otherwise the right arm will hit the knobs on the bass....

So, who's using what?

Here is the link to the earlier thread discussing the internal GK on Alain Carons BN6 with the close up pics.

...SKB5STRING!!!!

thank you very much for the info..thats exactly what I was looking for...another question, do you use it quite often, is there many settings to use it in?...If i go with this...this will be my first synth...as this is quite an expensive touch..want to make sure this is right for me...Im thinking Im going to pass on the roland on this build...will go with the roland on my next?

thanks again
Randyt

This is the same stand Danny R and I use. GREAT stands. They transport well, and you feel like your gazillion dollar, irreplaceable bass investments are safe on them...

And you only need one hand to pick a bass off of these stands, which is important for quick switches between songs where you have the bass you are taking off in one hand, and the bass you will be putting on in the other.

Ooooh my!

Today's roster update welcomes Danny R. and his three gorgeous BN5s.

BTW, talkbass has a character limit for posts, and because I provide links to everyone's basses, I cannot fit the roster into one post, and now I'm exceeding two posts....

So apologies for having to post the roster in 3 separate posts. I'll give some thought to how I can make it so you don't have to scroll so much, but it could well be that we've just grown and this is a happy growing pain. :hyper:

Thanks Tom!!
This is the most organized club I've seen, all other clubs should take note! Thanks for all the effort :)
I took my white F-Bass to a gig tonight and sounded amazing! F-Bass + Schroeder 115PL/210PL stack (in custom camo finish) + Genz Benz Streamliner 900 = TONE HEAVEN!!
