I just noticed that Fbass is sponsoring an "Fbass bash." Are any of you guys going to go to this? If so, please give their cabinets a real work out and let me (us) know your impressions. I'm still very interested in their cabinets and am hoping Santa thinks I've been a good enough boy...

Which bridge would you choose for a VF5 to maintain Marcus Miller tone? A style, B style or bent plate?
My first thought is "not bent plate" because one of the two modifications Roger Sadowsky famously made to Marcus's bass was to replace his bent plate bridge with a heavier bridge. I can vouch for thre BAV on a Vf5.
I too think that the bent plate is the last option. I first thought that the A Style was closer to a Badass II bridge in terms of mass. But I am concerned with weight so maybe the B Style would do the job and be lighter.

Nice. I've believed F's are the best sounding basses out there for about 10 yrs now. Still haven't tried any better.

I can't make it to the BASH, but would love some cab reviews - I just happen to be looking for a little 4ohm box to complete my mini TC rig (it's red too)...
i went to the HIPSHOT website and they dont make mention of weight...You might want to call Hipshot or George for better details...
I personally like the A bridge as it has better adjustment properties.IME
Marcel Furlanetto answered my question : A Style is 5oz (141 grams) heavier than B Style. Not enough to make the bass too heavy and more adjustments and mass should be good.

Here is one of the videos Donovan of fretspot.com made of my bass to help convince me to buy it. This video favors the bridge pickup, obviously.

I'm sure the hipshot bridges are great too, they are on my other basses, but I can definitely say that the BAV on my VF5 helps give it a wonderful tone.

The VF5 image is from a fellow TBer who did this muckup I love. My model will be similar with a birdseye fingerboard. And the AC6 is the one sold couple of weeks ago over FBass's used instruments section. I missed the bass by a day or so. So I will have a 5 strings version of that.
I did get to make it to this bash. It was a great time!! Unfortunately there was only one FBass cab there and I think it was the 212. I got to play through a little Tecamp 112 combo I think. It may have been a 110. It sounded great. I didn't get to hear the 212 until the band started up and then the room seemed to have a decent sound to it. The bass was a beautiful BN5 that sounded very full and articulate. The overall tone of the cab to me sounded like how I remembered when testing the cab in the shop. To me, it lacked projection. The tone was good but it was a subtle room filling bass that didn't seem to have a specific position on the stage. The 210 on the other had a definite aggressive sound to it and was clean and concise no matter where I walked in the shop. I really wish I could have heard it in a band context such as last nights customer appreciation night. Everyone seemed to have a great time. My thanks go out to George and all his staff that were there.
i don't know how you feel about 6-string basses, but if you are open to them, have you given serious thought to making your AC5 an AC6 instead? Not only is a 6 string so nice to have when you solo, but it is nice to play nearer the nut sometimes to help keep intonation precise. Also, it is sometimes convenient to have those harmonics.
Of course all this is personal preference, but i prefer having that C string for solos so much I would go nuts on an AC5.
