Club Fbass (Part 11!)

It may have been a 110. It sounded great. I didn't get to hear the 212 until the band started up and then the room seemed to have a decent sound to it. The bass was a beautiful BN5 that sounded very full and articulate. The overall tone of the cab to me sounded like how I remembered when testing the cab in the shop. To me, it lacked projection. The tone was good but it was a subtle room filling bass that didn't seem to have a specific position on the stage. The 210 on the other had a definite aggressive sound to it and was clean and concise no matter where I walked in the shop. I really wish I could have heard it in a band context such as last nights customer appreciation night. Everyone seemed to have a great time. My thanks go out to George and all his staff that were there.

I already own a BN6 (I should ask you a member number) and I don't feel that much comfortable with it. Not that the bass itself is not well crafted but 6 strings for me is not ideal.

But the tuning of both basses will be different : VF5 standard B to G and AC5 E to C. That's how my actual MF Fretless and MusicMan Stingray 5 are tuned. Which you can also see via the link to Flickr I posted earlier.

Thanks for the update on the bash... I'm from north of Quebec City and it was too far for me to go... But I'm glad that you gave us an update on the F Bass cab/cabs....:D

Salut Lebrett.... I wanted to know if MF still makes basses and guitars? I had a four string fretted bass made by them back in the 80's.... when I was in the army band in St-Hubert, and loved that bass.... Now I just bought myself a BNF 6 in May.... Est-ce que tu joues pas mal???

En français sur Talkbass!!! Wow ça arrive pas souvent de voir ça! Yes MF still craft great basses. They are located in Montreal on Rue Guizot. Michel Fournelle and his team builds unique instruments that are a joy to play. Bonjour!!!!! I am going tomorrow to MF coincidentally, to get back one of my instruments I sent for adjustment. MF have a fretless 6 string bass on display that is an absolutely beauty for whomever would like to pay them a visit, very nice instruments and world class services by great luthiers there. Totally recommended, probably the best in town.

If it wasn't for my galactic BNF6 I would be thinking about their instruments a lot.

Wanted to hit my FBass brethren up about my unique BN6 Fretless neckthru 6'er with 18mm spacing and an AC6 bridge. A few of you international folks have hit me up and I've been hesitant to ship overseas. Well, I've come to my senses if any of you are interested.

Enchanté de vous vois aussi les amis Québecois... Yeah, I used to be a musician in the Canadian Armed Forces, and retired in '92. Came back to the Saguenay, and found out that there wasn't that much music being played anymore, but still managed to get playing with 5 or 6 different groups at a time until a drunk driver hit me head-on the 23rd of October 2010. Since then I've been out of commission playing-wise and haven't been able to play since or even try my new BNF6 that I bought in May. I'm very sad about my situation, and don't think that my health and physical condition will allow me to play much music in the future, but who knows... I'm hoping to try and get better as much as possible, and get to playing my upright bass, my Yamaha TRB 6IIP and especially my new BNF 6.... Sorry about all of this, I'm not looking for pity at all, just updating you guys about me a little bit. So I'll finish off by saying it's great to meet up with a couple of guys from my province here in Canada.... Salut à vous deux, et j'espère bien vous reparler bientôt... :bassist:

I am so sorry brother, here goes all my energy to you with the best wishes for a speedy recovery.... But as they say, if there is life, there is hope.
If it would bring you some encouragement and you are able to go to enjoy some music, let me know /send me a pm, I will send you tickets for our gig next december 15, we play at the Petit Medley, if you want to come and see some music.

Stu...do you have a machinist rule...you can check bow in neck...with these seasonal weather changes...it is bound to affect your Fbass...also, has the frets lifted...do you see any weird gaps under frets??...
Outside of that...its a "99"...maybe its time for a little setup back at head office>>???

Guys, i need some help if you would be so kind. But please disregard this question if it's too way off topic.

1) what distortion/overdrive pedal works best with F-Basses? Here in the Philippines, we don't have alot of options regarding dist. pedals so i'm taking a shot with amazon.com. I just tried a friend's Wooly Mammoth pedal but i honestly couldn't control it. So i'm trying to look for something tamer but still keeps the integrity of the bass.

Thanks so much for the help guys :)
