A giant THANKS to all the replies! Just checked out the bass muff...super cool! Just need to try one for myself.

Just gotta get through the other suggestions, then i can make a decision :) thanks guys!

If you have an hour and a half or so, this is one nice bass tribute concert by Russian bassist Alex Zavalokin.

Alex plays a fretted Fodera (I think, I can't quite make it out) and an Fbass AC6 (fretless).

He starts off with a Marcus Miller cover on the Fodera, then moves to the AC6... really nice tributes to Jaco Pastorius, Marcus Miller, Alain Caron, John Patitucci, Gary Willis, and Nathan East.

Monster chops, monster tone, monster player.

Okay, the sound cut out for me about 22 minutes into it. :rollno:

Hey guys, havent been here in a little while....just wanted to say that I've had this AC5 for a bit and its an amazing instrument in every way...these are really "Kings" in the fretless world ....and my first one.
I know I'm repeating things already stated over and over but I wanted to add my voice in saying that FBass is tops..George and the crew make incredible instruments that are unique in design, and beautiful to boot. Thanks FBass for making this killer bass!!

Now I have to learn how to play it..... ( in tune ;))

Cheers
Mitch

Laughing! You brought me back in time. My previous two fretless basses were lined... my first AC6 wasn't. I did spend some time wondering if I had made a mistake with that -- but I would never have imagined YOU would need time to master a lineless fretless.

I thought you guys all ate some kind of special Twinkie or Ding Dong that gave you super bass powers, and now Hostess is out of business and I won't be getting a bite for myself. :D

Shouldn't I be # 212? I posted. Pic the other day AND a video!

Oh, and I twisted my truss about a 1/2 turn and my neck is straight now.

Cheers!

That's a beautiful fretless Mitch. Every now and the. A friend and I swap basses, my BN6 for his AC6 and I marvel at the quality from top to bottom of the instrument.

Hey Tom! Thanks for the input. I'll try that. Glad to see mine isn't the only 6 that had that problem. And on a fretless it's even a worse problem.

Played it again through the amp last night and its indeed twangy down there amplified. Nothing wrong with trying to get the neck straight, eh?

Here I am with the bass, the tree, and an elf!
Today's tardy roster update welcomes Stewthebassman and his 1999 BN6 to Club Fbass.

I'm sorry again about missing this before, Stew. With over 200 club members, sometimes I miss adding people thinking they are already on the list.

BTW, I *love* that photo. In the foreground it is a typical club membership photo: bassists standing stoically if not majestically with his Fbass.

But in the BACKGROUND? LOVE the little girl's reaction in the photo. CLASSIC!

Ha!

Well Tom the Twinkies are gone, as are the Ding Dongs, so unless I find some magic dust in another sweet I just have to play it:).

(..well, I did hear if you rub the bass with grapeseed oil it selects the bass to "auto-tune")

:p
