Is that an ash body, Kevin?

It's a combination of ash and alder. Alder tone block and ash wings to be exact. It is my favorite sounding instrument that I have ever owned. It sounds exactly like the tone that is in my head. I think I might be ordering a 5 with the same combo.

Just curious... how many basses do you usually bring to a gig? Do you do the main player - backup thing? Or do you bring different basses for their different voices?

I usually just bring the one ...(FBASS) Odin AC6 (I sold all my other basses once I received my AC6)...
and for amps
Outdoor gigs:...Ampeg Heritage 8x10 + Puma 900

Everything else: Puma 900 +Tec Amp M212

I bring a raft of pedals (5) but never use them...if I do use anything, I would use mostly my EBS comp and Wonderlove filter.

Great wood combo! Tone block and wings are usually used on neckthrough instruments. I thought your bass was bolt on :)

George has used quite a few so-called toneblocks on bolt-on basses in the past. Not sure how common it is or even if it adds tone, but here is a shot of a BN5 from Bass Central:

Hey Gridchin, I saw your BNF-6 for sale and it looked great. I sure hope you have something to replace it:bassist:.

Cheers.

Hey Kevin, thanks for the pic! I didn't know that George use toneblocks on some bolt on basses.

I traded the BNF-6 for a Ken Smith BSR6 Elite. Its a nice bass. But I'm still working on the specs for a custom Fbass order :)

Thanks, guys for answering my question about how many basses we bring on gigs. I never bring just one to a gig, although I'll bring just one to a jam. However, when I bring multiple basses, I do it for alternate tones, not for backup purposes. I've had to move to another bass (because of dying batteries), but my fall back bass was there because I was going to use it for another song.

This is the Bnf 6 that I sold one year ago.
Super bass, but I am not a 6'er...
And missed the lined, so I let her go...

Thanks to Donovan at Fretspot, I will get another Fbass soon,
Bnf 5 lined. Have to wait couples of days..

yes, the next BnF 5 will be also an ash wings and ebony fingerborad (and a maple ton block)
That combo on an Fbass bring the sound I like (and want) with a fretless.
kind of dynamic and smooth in the same time.
Also that put the bass on the light weight area, if you compare with walnut for example.

I am really looking for to play this bass with my Baer ML112. I guess that will be a winner ticket.

Wow, sounds great.

I'm just now getting to a point where I am starting to appreciate why guys are concerning themselves with light basses. I've always thought, "Who cares? I'll be exhausted at the end of the night regardless."

But these days I find myself going for my fretless AC6s (chambered) and my BN6 LE replica, and I think their light weight plays into that.

Of course, I could always go for a 5er, but I stress out a bit sometimes worrying about if I'll "need" that "missing" string.
