Club Fbass (thread 13)

Can you tell us, specifically, why? Aside from the fact that it looks totally cool.

Well, first off, it's a P/J, which I tend to favor. The wood choices are also significant. Mahogany body, maple neck and ebony board is one of my all-time favorite wood combos, and the ash center tone block should tighten things up a bit. The overall tone is this great mix of clarity, attack, balance and fullness. The F bass preamp is one of my favorites, and one of the most "musical" preamps I have encountered, but to be honest, I loved it just set flat. And of course, being an F bass, it is super comfortable to play, either sitting down or on a strap, and the neck felt especially good.

Here are the deets on the 40th Anniversary P/J.

Ok, guys and gals, I would like you to seriously consider some kind of more frequent posting of pics, thingy...

Obviously, if someone is interested in a particular brand, they'll probably search out that brand and try to find whatever info they can find. Mostly, they'll be looking for pics, and, if they're anything like me, they'll want to see the most recent stuff first. Other than those of us that have gotten new basses recently, there's not much to be seen. If someone has to go back 50, 100, 200, 300 pages!, only to find a plethora of broken photobucket links, that's not very inspiring. I looked at the FBass website for DAYS, drooling, but it was going through all the FBass threads here and seeing all of the incredible basses that you guys own that really inspired me to make some bad financial decisions and now I own TWO and I'm ordering a third shortly...(terrible influences, all of ya'!)! This thread starts in 2014. I really like seeing up-to-date stuff(which is why the In Stock section of the website really bugs me...), which I think most of us do.

The Spector guys post pics of their gear on the first Friday of the month, maybe we could do something similar? Doesn't hafta be the first of anything, but at least a bit more frequently. My basses may not inspire someone to jump on the FBass train, but YOURS might! Think about it.

I'm gonna suggest this in the Dingwall club as well, they don't do a very good job of posting pics either...LOL!

(like the Fodera/SD dual coil pickups and 3 band pre)...and colour combos etc... i am heading to the Fbass HQ in a week to test out some - i live 2 hours away.... i guess i can get my questions answered. LOVE the pics guys - keep em comin!! (especially the BN4 owners!!) :)

For the record, I am the ONLY Club moderator I know of on talkbass to not just update a roster, but to take the trouble to make each update a LINK back to the photos that were posted to get club membership.

Consequently, EVERY roster update is an opportunity for people who are curious to see our basses.

That said, as was pointed out, not all of us keep our bass photos posted.

I have considered monthly calls for people to post their basses, however, Club Fbass operates a bit differently than other bass clubs on talkbass. For some reason, although we have over 300 members, the members that actively participate in conversations is a fraction of that.

I always say it's because FBass owners actually practice and get gigs, hence they aren't sitting at home chatting about basses online. :bassist:

In other words, a monthly call for photos probably wouldn't actually show the impressive range of nice basses we have in this club.

I'm all for monthly photo posts, however, I'm also going to look into finding us a place on the web where we can all upload our bass photos. This could be used for our Club Fbass membership, although I think that's a bit too strict, but for those of us who upload, we'd give people a one-stop place to see Fbasses.

You do a PHENOMENAL job with the updates and the roster! I know that all of us are grateful for the amount of effort you put in, keeping track of all the members. I also know that you're 100% correct in that, at any given time, the active members in a thread are just a very small percentage of the total members. The issue, as I see it, is that there are so many broken photobucket links, that it becomes super frustrating clicking on stuff. I like your idea of a place where we can all upload pics and have it be a one-stop place for FBass pics, that'd be swell! Maybe it's just as simple as at some point during a month, someone says "Hey! Post pics of your gear."?

These basses are awesome! You guys are awesome! This day is awesome! I'ma go ride my Harley for a bit...:bassist::hyper::bassist::hyper:

You do a fantastic job! I was going to ask how you do that.

Tom, I echo what everyone else says about you. We are extremely grateful for all you do here. Thank you!

What if we create a Flickr account for F Basses? We can have separate galleries based on specific models, users, even by country. Who knows? Flickr is being bought my SmugMug which is a photographer site, so I imagine it will only get better, but won’t affect an account if we make one now.

Thoughts?
