My wife bought me this beautiful BN6 as a Fathers Day gift

That’s a beautiful bass and a wonderful Father’s Day gift. I’ve always liked natural basses. I know you’ll enjoy it immensely.
The emerald ash borer is a serious problem. I have 3 dead ash trees at my house and I’ve seen 10 or 12 cut down on our street in the past few years for the same reason.

Ok, where the heck are you guys finding these women who buy basses as gifts? My wife is fabulous, and I wouldn’t trade her for anyone, but she ain’t buying any basses! The best I could do was get her to “buy” a bass on one of her credit cards, then I promptly paid it off...lol!

There is not much to change on the 40th Anniversary model, which includes: 24-fret mac ebony board, mahogany body with northern ash tone block, 5-piece maple/wenge neck, Hipshot Kickass brdige with brass saddles, 40th Anniversary 12th fret inlay, Aguilar 4P-60 and 4J-HC pickups, F Bass preamp, and chrome hardware.
The only things I added were a D-tuner and Dunlop Dual straplocks.

That looks like a NYC model, made for Jimmy Coppolo’s old shop... metallic paint, reverse headstock, etc.
Dave! Good eye, sir! I bought it new from Jimmy in March 2002. It’s the one that spoke to me. Until recently, i forgot it was a special BN5. I miss that shop very much.
I have one of those too! Mine looks different as far as the truss route but I got mine from Jimmy. The NYC's have vintage fret wire and the neck on my NYC feels better than the other two BN5's I had. Don't pay attention to my bad placement of inlay stickers

I may have even seen your bass 16 years ago. I sure hope I like the feel of my BNF when it comes in December. I’ve only played one other BN ever and it was too light for me believe it or not. Just felt like some balls were missing.
I always kinda liked the headstock point on top like the NYC model.
Some changes happened and my VF5 went away and this BN5 came to me! I have a Fodera emperor deluxe 5 with jazz pickups so the VF5 wasn't getting as much attention as it should. I had BN5 with different woods some years ago and really regretted that I sold it (had to do it to get my dream Fodera). This new one is ash body, maple neck and macassar ebony fingerboard! Really fat, articulate and nice modern tone, love it!
