Anyone have a VF with a P/MM setup? I haven't searched the club threads yet...

I do not, but when I originally planned my VF6, my wish was for a P/MM setup. At the time, Marcel informed me that a humbucker wasn't planned for the VF, but they were working on a humbucker for the BN series which had since been released. (The BN and VF series must have slight specification differences.) As no humbucker was available to me at the time, I went with a VF6-PJ Fretless.

Mind you, the time period was late 2017 through early 2018. This may have changed at FBass since then. It would be best to send a message to Marcel. He will usually respond in a timely manner.

Anyone have a VF with a P/MM setup? I haven't searched the club threads yet...

I've emailed Marcel about the possibility of a "VF5-PM" and he was amenable to the idea, though made clear it was untested and that results couldn't be guaranteed...

For my next bass, I ultimately went with a classic VF5-JJ after some deliberation (under construction as we speak). I did, however, have a chance to snatch up a VF5-JM in the interim, and it has quickly become my favorite. The Fbass preamp is such a good partner to the MM humbucker. I find I use the J sparingly, to add a little roundness to the booty.

That said, I think a reverse P pickup would be an utterly amazing compliment to the humbucker... I could definitely see myself going after a dual routed JM/PM after I've broken the JJ in... assuming a divorce isn't in the offing.

Anyone have a VF with a P/MM setup? I haven't searched the club threads yet...

I don't know of anyone who has a VF in this configuration, but I have considered it many times and it still bounces around in the back of my mind to do it.

I did notice he didn't slap at the part where there was slapping on the album. It still sounded great, but I wondered about that.

Hey everyone, I recently acquired a sweet '97 AC5 & slapped on a new F Bass string set - is it normal for the open core section of the string to go over the saddle like that on the D string? I've some photos of other ebony bridge basses with the wrapped core on the G instead. Looking forward to your replies..
