O man I'm always suprised how F basses sound... I have AC5, but desperately need one fretted!!!

Was that recorded through Tecamp?
That's one of the things that I love about the BN series, the Fbass pickups. So many other boutique builders use off the shelve pups. The first time I had the chance to visit a store with high end basses in stock, 6 out of 7 of them had the same Bartolini pups in them. Not knocking Barts, I have them in my Lakland, but there really wasn't a big difference in the sound of those different brand basses. Jim

Hey Baird, like your new avatar! We lost Jack Bruce and Chris Squier in just a little over 6 months from each other, not a lot of my original influences left, Casady and Lesh still hanging in there though:bassist:Jim

We also lost Glenn Cornick from Jethro Tull last August....for me he was up there as an influence with CS:)

Thanks :)
The Puma Taste to zero, the rest Flat.
The bass singlecoil, bass 25%, mid 50%, treble 10%
I have a question about my settings, the output is in single coil mode not a fraction of my fenders.
So the gain on my Puma is at 10, but i even need eleven...
Is this normal with F-Bass?
There is some hiss.
In passive mode it is even less, of course.
In a mix you don't hear it.

Wow, I can't believe I forgot Glenn Cornick. "Stand UP" and "Benefit" were 2 of my favorite albums at the time. I hate to say it, but it's kind of hard to keep up, so many great bassists are leaving for the other side of this life lately. Sad. I watched a live stream of the Grateful Dead from Chicago Sunday night in the local theater here. Watching Phil Lesh it is hard to believe he's 75 years old! If I'm still jamming with all my heart at that age, I will consider it a life well spent. Jim

I haven't played enough Fbasses to have a idea about their general output, but side by side with my "65 Jazz Bass with stock electronics the passive Jazz is louder than the Fbass in active mode. Not a whole lot but you can hear it. When the Fbass is in passive mode the difference is quite a bit more obvious. No hiss though on my F, it's the quietest bass I've ever owned. But nowadays with 800 watt 5 lbs. amp heads the lower output on the F shouldn't be an issue in a gigging or practice situation . When you say " you don't hear it" do you mean the bass or the hiss? Now having said all that, My old Jazz is as loud as most active basses I've owned. Whoever wound those old pickups on my bass wound them very "hot":bassist: Jim

Yes i mean the hiss is masqued by the music, not the bass:-)
I wil check what causes it, i hoped there was i small pot on the print to make the signal louder..

Hey,

The low output has to do with the stacked hum cancelling design from what I understand. When you do the stacked humbucker (two half height single coils stacked together) it has a low output. I think the idea is that you boost the gain through boosting the preamp.

You could try bass 75%, mid 100%, treble 60%.

I don't know if that will chance the sound in a way that you would like.
