Pretty close, i don't wanna damage them when slapping. How far is the pickups from the strings??...maybe raise pickups?
O man, I talked to Marcel about that, but shipping and taxes would just kill me.... enjoy the new beauty!Sorry to ruin your father's day Tom!
After almost deciding on a Studio 5, I made a change and ordered this blue BN6. Making the switch from 5 back to 6.
Wish me luck!

I'll second that, the pre really is a natural sounding extension of the basses' passive sound, unlike many of the "on steroids" type descriptions of other makes IMHO. JimSounds great, Mark. You got a nice lick on camera in there!
Regarding the output level, I used to boost BM & T pretty high, certainly hotter than a Fender level. However, I started using my BN5 with my effect pedals (for a long time I didn't because the bass>amp tone is SO good) and they didn't like the hot signal. So I turned down the preamp to about a Fender level...the tone still kills. The Fbass preamp sounds REALLY good at any and all settings. Very usable!

I do the exact opposite..with my FBASS's...I start with all the TMB at full, then turn back to taste or needed tone!!!
I still have challenges with the boost only pre on my BN-5F as I am so used to boost/cut on my other basses. Still trying to find all of my favorite settings. My bass is fretless and I don't play it as much as my fretted basses so I don't get to play around with the tone controls as much as I would like.I do the exact opposite.
I'm not that far from you, perhaps it would be best if I relieved your BNF frustrations by taking it. In any case, I am with you. My controls dimed make my FBass completely unusable. My passive Jazz basses are always dimed, my active Valenti and Fodera are usually bass at 100%, mids and bass at 60%. I can't do that with my FBass. Not a bad thing by any stretch, just totally different.

I start with all of them in the middle, and adjust to taste. The mid is great to cut through a mix.I do the exact opposite.
That's interesting, I never dime my Jazz, to me it sucks the bottom end out of it. I've found a sweet spot around 8 on the front pup and 7 on the rear if I'm not going for that rear Jaco growl. Different strokes. JimI still have challenges with the boost only pre on my BN-5F as I am so used to boost/cut on my other basses. Still trying to find all of my favorite settings. I should mention that on my Jazz my bridge PU is dimed but I do dial down the neck PU a tiny bit until I hear the tone "pop".That's interesting, I never dime my Jazz, to me it sucks the bottom end out of it.
