I believe, if you order new from F-bass, that they will work on a lighter build for you.

I took a step toward my 2nd FBass on Friday, having submitted a price request for a build. I am thinking about a VFF6-PJ, a VF6 Fretless with a P/J Pickup configuration. Lake Placid Blue finish with a Tortoise Shell pick guard.

I also asked about the additional cost if I substitute a humbucker with single-coil mode for the J-pickup.

I'll post an update later when I hear back and choose to go ahead with the build.

It's official. I've finalized the specs and sent a down payment.

what a gorgeous F. i'm such a sucker for George's bursts and the more I see the VF that are rear routed (no plate under the knobs) the more I love the look. Really stunning man.

Here's my old BN6, it had one of the nicest (to me) bursts I've seen on a modern looking bass. 1 pc body. I hate that I had to sell it in a pinch for $2000 ugh....

I recently installed a set of TI flats on my BN5 and I've been pleasantly surprised with the results. Anyone else have experience with flats on their F's?

For what it's worth, I've found that the TI's do a great job of tempering the natural brightness of the ash/maple construction, while still giving a full range sound. I even dig the slap tone.

Yes! I had a set of Cobalt flats on my BN6 and also quite liked them. I've kept them and will use them again sometime soon, as the B-Style bridge makes string changes simple and quick.

When I still had my AC6 I used TI flats on it, mainly to create more of a tonal difference to my AC5 with F Bass strings.

The TI's worked very well with no bridge adjustment needed.

The tension on the 34.5" scale was notably different to the same strings on a 34" scale. They were perfect!
