The seller will sell it at a price someone will pay for it, all else is not really relevant imo... although interesting/fun to talk about.
Same thing happened in the Coppolo world a few years ago...an LG5 went up used at an unheard of price of $10,000 US. Just because of ...well... it was known as a "really good" LG by a few....so not much of a reason to market at that price IMO. I laughed a little and shook my head. Bass sold to the current owner (after the next owner) for $6800 so it sold for a huge amount less to that next owner... obviously. $6800 was still over used market value but much more in line. Don't want to start any Coppolo vs Molloon value discussion here ,just giving an example that someone can ask anything they want and then when the Hail Mary is incomplete he may have to just try to get the 10 yards anyways.

There’s three prices in play in an online offering:

-Crystal Meth fantasy asking price
-Actual price seller will settle for
-Fire sale fast cash liquidation sale price

That Moollon will likely realize a price in between the Crystal Meth price and the price the seller is okay with.

Elsewhere here on Talkbass there is an Alleva Coppola P-Bass on sale for $7500.

Come guys, we all know what the price means. Wife says "you have too many basses start selling". He lists a ridiculous price so it never sells. Well maybe he doesn't show her the sales price because she thinks he paid 600 for it....

I kid of course. In Nashville I bet someone would pay 4k for it.

I'm curious as well. My order is from May 2021 and at the time Andy mentioned expected completion around 18+ months. Not that I consider the 18 months (and whatever the plus translates to) to be a hard deadline or promise, but it would be nice to know how much over 24 months it will roughly be. Helps with the excitement management :hyper:

My JV had a discontinued color (rootbeer sparkle) and discontinued spec (opaque over ash) and I still wasnt able to get as much as a stock P classic for it. Seems like the JV's are still in the mid 2's but apparently the sky is the limit for a P classic lol..

I have zero desire to sell my P classic, but I'd be hard pressed if someone offered me 43 for it.

You should check in with Andi. I ordered that same time and got mine in December, but that was because YJ does things like finishes in batches. Shouldn't be long now.

Not constantly refreshing, but curious. A highly coveted luxury item causes interesting human behavior in the buying public that seeks one. Moollon is no exception.

I’m expecting a substantial price jump. Moollon was reasonably affordable for a long time. This is because they were making little to no money on what was a passion project. A domestic boutique P from a known builder demands 4k at the very least. The same bass from Moollon would cost $2200 two years ago when I was actively looking.

that’s what I expect. I paid $2600 I think cuz I had a “upgrade” color and a truss rod port. Love that bass and to me is worth much more so a price jump wouldn’t be out of line. I have played a few small shop p basses that don’t come close to the quality of moollon all starting at 3k

I’m checking the Facebook page almost daily as well as checking my inbox here on TB where the last message I got from Andi was, “I’ll get back to you tomorrow with the full details of your order.”

I know they are finally adding shipping charges, which makes sense and is more than reasonable. But there’s probably bigger news than that coming down the pipeline.

While I’m a little anxious for a response to finalize my order, I just hope Andi and his family are doing ok. My order can wait as long as it takes.

Absolutely!

Nothing but the best for Andi and his family. And YJ and his for that matter.

While I couldn’t love my Moollon’s any more, family ALWAYS trumps the wire and wood that they breathe life into.

I just hope they can sustain.

I would/will gratefully pay more for YJ’s work. Woefully underpriced for years. Many of us scratch our heads as to how they keep the boat afloat.
With it being a one man show, I’m not sure if there would be a Moollon if YJ were to pass. Hopefully, that won’t be a concern for many, many years. Just hope for YJ and Andi’s sake they can charge a fair market value where they take themselves into consideration as well. The world needs Moolllon! I know I do.

Yes, and No. It’s everywhere if you look hard enough, or nowhere if you don’t. It’s mentioned throughout this very thread. When Googling “Moollon bass price” it took me straight to Andi’s FAQ Facebook post, which includes prices from 2019.

Basically, anywhere from $2,300-$3,000 or more depending on model and options.

Those prices were still good at last check, but will probably be outdated in the coming days as we await some big news from Moollon. Many fans are projecting the news to include a substantial price increase.

In any case, I highly recommend you check out that FAQ to learn more about the instruments and process. (You don’t have to join Facebook or the Moollon group to read it) Then keep checking back to see what changes are to be announced soon.
