Man. Lala, I appreciate your approach with trying clear nitro before you further assess, but seeing the remnants of gold in this pic makes me think this bass was destined to be Aztec. Good luck with your refin, it will turn out great either way. I look forward to the clear nitro pics.

I hear ya! That was my very first inclination when I saw the bass for sale. Then, I thought, that would be just too strange to spend all this time and money to make the bass look the same way it looked just a couple of months ago. It just felt like a lost opportunity.

Hey All, super stoked new Moollon owner (new to me anyway) and as has been said, the hype is real and this J smokes every other Jazz bass I’ve ever played. Worth every penny and keeping it forever!!

Out of curiosity, I know (and can see within the control cavity) that these instruments are gorgeously wired and shielded, but I do notice that old ‘sizzle that goes away when you touch the strings’ that one of my vintage instruments exhibited. It doesn’t really bug me in the least but curious if this is part and parcel of the attention to detail in these instruments to match vintage spec?

Jazzes are single coils and will do that unless both volumes are at 100%

For sure, I know single coil hum and have other J/J instruments, this is a high RF sound that disappears when you ground it by touching metal parts of the instrument. My old P did this and I went shielding paint crazy and got rid of it, but after all these years with different instruments it doesn’t bother me anymore hahaha

My Moollon P-IV does it too. Vintage spec!

I’m at the point where if any client or person hiring me has any problems with a little 60 cycle hum, I know then that I don’t wanna work with them. If it was good enough for Hendrix…

Just read through Andi's "2023 Update" posts on Facebook...
As always, he was perfectly thoughtful and transparent about the state of affairs at Moollon. This was seemingly in response to, what I can imagine, is tons of email; not all of it deserving of the thoughtful replies they likely received. IMO, I'm really pleased to see Andi/YJ telling folks that if they're not happy with the time this process takes, that they'll gladly refund their deposits.
This folks in this group seem know that these are incredibly special instruments and are well worth every minute of waiting, but for those that are less inclined to wait, kindly step out of line and go buy something "off the rack". Regardless, I hope that this helps clean up Andi's inbox a bit and takes a little stress out of both YJ and Andi's lives.

I realize that posting this here might be like shouting into an echo chamber, lol, but it felt almost satisfying to know that Andi is pushing back (in the most appropriate way, mind you) against customers who are giving them grief. ::mic drop:: :cool:
