Passed the 36 month mark and I am still waiting. I believe it is close though as I have been sent a few pics of it on the bench. Really looking forward to seeing it in the flesh.

I put the deposit down for the order in early June of 2020.
those of you who order one new. what was the main reason you got one new and didnt decide to just try to get one used? color? specs? im just curious I could never wait 3 plus years for an instrument

many Moollon players are full-time professionals who can’t afford to pay collector prices.
The used market is 3-600$ more than new. So that doesn't seem like a likely reason. Given the time investment of a 36+ month wait. I'd venture to say that it winds up being more expensive
Getting a second hand one in Europe seems even harder. They pop up here every few weeks, not so much on our side of the pond. And for me the wait was not an issue because I have a good bass and it's only a luxury item. The wait gives you the option to spec it yourselve and to save up for the final payment. 
I don’t mind waiting for something of top quality. My first custom ordered Moollon (in 2018) only took 3 months from order to delivery, and I thought THAT was a long wait!!!
After owning that bass for 4 years I decided to get another, and ordered it new from Moollon knowing it’s a 3-year wait. It’s worth it.
What it comes down to is ordering such a nice, fragile instrument new so I can know the entire history of it. Every bump and bruise is a connection between me and the instrument.
Also, it’s super personal to have your own name/initials as part of the serial number printed on the headstock. I like building a personal relationship with the builder and Andi. I do the same thing with surfboards. I like working with the shaper directly to get exactly the board I want, and developing that personal relationship, and having my name penciled on the stringer.
I guess really… having your name on the headstock, or stringer of a surfboard, is pretty cool.
I’m not in a rush. It feels more special knowing it was built just for me.

Actually, had two others built for me that I traded for other Moollons that I liked better.
All about finding the right instrument.
Doings some dates in Alaska this week and the FOH guy couldn’t get over the JV.
SO grateful Hugh McDonald hipped me to YJ’s work about 6 yrs ago.
Tried for decades to get my Sadowskys to sound like Moollons. I just didn’t realize it.

I SO get it. I’ve a file in my phone of nearly every Moollon I’ve seen. Works of art that are sonically impeccable.

Know it sounds weird but I don’t mind the long build times It gives me something to look forward to even if it’s nearly four years away.
The first boutique Jazz I bought wait time was three months, which seemed like an eternity.
Currently waiting on a Wal that’s at the three year mark due in October.
I was lucky to find a used Classic P last year and it is probably my favorite bass.
Which leads to going custom. My favorite color has always been Rootbeer Sparkle.
Have only seen one Classic P in RB Sparkle on the used market very unlikely another will surface anytime soon.
Right now Iam considering sending Andi a down payment next year for another Classic P with RB Sparkle and starting the waiting process all over.
The way I see it you can’t lose, even if I didn’t like the bass (not happening with Moollon I’m sure) Knowing I could easily sell the bass in a day or two and recoup the money makes it worthwhile to me.

What exactly were you able to get from your Moollons that your Sadowskys couldn't give you?
