Club Moollon

May be time to hold onto to those moollon basses bc replacing them may start being very hard

I get what you’re saying, but to me it’s always been time to hold on to those Moollon instruments, mostly because they are great to play! YJ is the only guy in the world making them and he doesn’t have any trained staff/apprentice to continue the business in his absence. Hopefully he keeps turning out Moollons for a very long time! (at whatever speed suits him so he can do so while enjoying his own life and health)

Is it possible to take over an order that y’all cancel? I’d be happy to take over the down payment and wait for a JIV or JV.

I took over a build for a PV last year. after I regretfully sold my PV (Glad it went to a great home @bass08053 ) I was able to change the color on the new order but some of the options were too far alog to change. Still waiting and hoping for that email! I would check with Andi.

I checked with Andi and mentioned this:

“As per availability of order cancellations, it's a very frequent request we get, especially from first-timers.

Unfortunately, most cancelled orders actually happen long before assembly of the basses themselves, so the bass' existence is actually null at that stage...and the extreme few that end up being left orphans (we've had probably four total, in the last 6 years, everything from a T-Classic to J-Classic V) will be firstly given to, or in the case of different details, offered as a compromise "to the next guy with similar specs", out of courtesy for everyone waiting in sequence for their order to be completed.”

I was certainly under the assumption from Andi that I would take the original purchaser's place in line. I hope that is still the case....

they say that but I got a fender 62 reiussue pickguard on amazon prime day for another bass, and for kicks held it up to my moolong guard and its def identical holes. In fact I used it as a template to screw in my thumb rest

I assume there would have to be some sort of handshake email between the original customer and the person taking their place for the build with YJ and Andi?
Yes. That is what I did. I came to agreement with the original person who ordered the bill, then we both confirmed with Andi at at the same time, I confirmed estimated completion date with Andi. Andi was very helpful, as usual, throughout the process.

Re: pickguards

Emailed direct, available, ordered, and shipping hopefully on Monday. They are making black guards, which I think is a natural for the mocha brown I have. Also have the tort, mint, etc. Shipping is $35. Guard is $50. I’ve bought Spitfires, so I can swallow that.

I can say on the J-V, the standard Fender J5 pickguard will NOT fit. I bought one yesterday and will be returning. It’s not even close.

Well, if anyone ever gets cold feet and no longer wants to wait, let me know.
