And....Sorry for the silence to all waiting, we had hoped that not attending NAMM would mean that we could keep on schedule, but alas we're about a month late on a good number of orders.
Also I'd best mention the latest: A new customer surge began several weeks ago and has not been letting up, with nearly 25 orders placed since November up thru today. As such, there's simply no way to give a proper ballpark estimate right now on prospective orders, and YJ is still working on orders going back to the last surge we had in Spring 2019. We're in uncharted waters, sailing into the fog of time...
We also have a rather "bloated" stock of bodies in all sorts of finishes at the shop, so if the long build list ever settles, YJ says it would be best to let customers know what is in stock, so that those could be completed ahead of others still being given lacquer work at his shop (as we used to do, back in Moollon's salad days up through 2017). In theory it makes sense, but any sort of "inventory check to speed up orders" probably won't be a part of the ordering process any time soon; For the time being, every order is still being done in sequence from the date of order confirmation.

One more thing to add is that among the directions YJ will be taking from now on to streamline in-shop stock (i.e. to avoid doing less-requested finishes whenever possible) is he primarily reverting to period correct combos by default (2TS, Blonde) when it comes to swamp ash.
Namely, that 2TS on swamp ash 1960s P-Classic IVs will be in standard, and 2TS on alder 1960s P-Classic IVs will be the far-and-in-between from now on. That is to say, YJ will wait for multiple customer orders to be placed of the same 2TS/alder combo, then have them done together.
If it were Autumn 2019 that would likely mean that a 2TS alder P-Classic IV would probably require "in excess of 12 months", but now that we're in the middle of crossing the 12 month threshold on standard orders anyway, one should expect such an order to be all the longer to be completed. Of course, this applies to future 2TS alder orders, not ones in progress.
I'd post the latest 2TS swamp ash P-Classic IV here for all to see, but it's best I not ban myself here just yet

The wait time is just a testament to how truly amazing these instruments are. The wait is a painful but worthwhile journey!

Random question: YJ's tuners have a very high shaft around which you wrap the string, and my Moollons came with the entire length of this area wrapped with string, and I see other Moollons with this same wrapping. I've never done more than few revolutions, but these tuners seem designed to accommodate the maximum amount of string. What's up with that?

With these vintage style tuners and a non-angled headstock, you generally need the maximum wrappings so there is enough of break angle across the nut - less important on the strings that run under the retainer.
In other words, the wrap is holding the string down at the base of the tuner. I tend to string mine by forcing them towards the bottom anyway but I tend not to like tons of wrap. I was wondering if the wrap was somehow a key to something tone-related I wasn’t aware of. Looks like it’s more practical.

Any of you guys run your Moollons into a preamp pedal? Ive been messing around with a Subway DI with good results, as the first stop on the pedalboard. It has a passive input switch which really helps keep the tone open and punchy. I would love to try a Noble with my Moollons, but... $$$

The Noble matches the Moollon esthetic in style and tone. They've been a perfect fit for me.
The DI out on my ToneHammer is good. It's not as big and ... dimensional?... as the Noble. For in-ears or recording it's the Noble all the way. For casual gigs when I want to minimize gear, the Aguilar does well. Even on bigger gigs I've heard others play through my Aguilar rig, without the Noble, and it's killer. The gain and drive on the TH are helpful on stage.
Typically I go into the Noble, maybe use a bit of EQ, maybe, then send that DI to the house. Then into the Aguilar and there I can be more twisty with the gain/drive/eq settings to suit me on stage without messing with FOH.
Every time I've heard audio from out front with the Noble and Moollon, even if the stage sound is brutal, out front it's gold. I've trained myself to trust that and play as if everything is perfect even if it doesn't sound like that on stage. The Noble DI sound with the Moollon is so "finished" it's mpossible to mess up.
I'd save up for the Noble.
