I’ve got a USA Lakland Glaub that I bought on TB last year. I love the way it plays, but the sound was just really dark and especially overloaded at 200Hz. I think the previous owner put an overwound Fralin in there.Beyond loving mine. I've played vintage Fenders, which can be fairly inconsistent. New Fenders including CS, and about a decade ago owned a US Lakland Bob Glaub. The Moollon smokes all of them, and I feel like it's the most bang for your buck that can get in a vintage style bass. You won't regret it!
Well I just dropped a Moollon pickup in it last week and it sounds like a completely different bass. It brought the dunlop flats to life! It doesn’t sound exactly like my buddy’s Moollon P, but it’s incredible nonetheless. Bonus is the tone knob now reacts with a very useful taper.
I have a very expensive Fender CS ‘59 P and the Moollon blows it out of the friggin water. If I wasn’t loaded up on P Basses already I would buy one in a heartbeat.
