LOL, I only had the Will Power because i had already ordered the vintage 5, and i already have the NYC 5 Standard, and both these necks are the same, the WL is slightly thinner, i do not want to have 2 basses that feel completely different thats why i opted for the vintage, if not, for the extra few hundred bucks the WL would have been it for sure. Perhaps when i become a better player i can get a WL 5 and it wont be that much of a change, but for now being that i am a beginner i want to stay sorta of in the same range of feel if you know what i mean.

NYC Vintage 5, with a Morado Fretboard as my other Basses are all maple fretboards and i wanted something a little different looking and sounding, i also asked for vintage knobs and the color will be like a deep wine with a mint PG, it is gonna look SWEET, and all this thanks to Rob, who came up with the idea of the color and stuff, thanks for asking. There was alot of discussion about stands in the last thread. I was on a search for something better
than the Onstage stuff I was using. And, I looked at some of the options people mentioned.
I was like "ok, you have $4000. basses...why do you have $20. stands?"

So, yesterday I took delivery of a stand worthy of the basses! The Invalid Link Removed

Simply the best stand to protect your investment(s) IMHO!!

+1 More about design of the bass and body size than scale. The original Portabag had a cool 'extra padding' thing on the bottom that was removable. With the padding in, it fit the 'dinky' Sadowsky body style, and smaller basses like the MTD's. For a full size J body, you just took that extra strip out, and good to go. Not sure if that feature is part of the newer design.

Per the question on comparing the PortaBag to the iGig, I had both for a while. I found the 'soft top' of the iGig bag (versus the more hard, hybrid design of the portabag) to be a negative (cumbersome to open and close). The pocket size and design was great though, and the quality was just as good as the Sadowsky. However, I prefer the Portabag over all others. If the Mono cases had larger pockets, those would be at the top of the heap by a large amount (regarding design, quality, weight, etc.). However, at this point, except for the original inCase SlimBag (which has long been discontinued), I've yet to find a bag as good as the Sadowsky regarding the combination of pocket storage, protection and quality.

now that is a real nice stand , best ive seen and easy to get around , one more thing for my need list , looks spendy but worth it im sure

Got around to weighing my Metro PJ on the digital scale this morning. 9.58 lbs!!!

I guess that isn't very heavy by general standards, but it sure seems heavy compared to the basses I have been playing the last year or so. I am definitely spoiled. Every time I pick it up, the first thought through my head is "man, that bass is heavy." But is really isn't compared to so many.

BTW, I weighed the Modern as well. 7.85 lbs!!!!!

Yes, the Portabag has a removable pad at the bottom for longer basses.

+1 Most of the Sadowsky players that I know (including me) pretty much just boost the bass control a very small amount (maybe 10%) and then just play (with a cut on the VTC for some tunes). That IMO is the classic 'flat' Sadowsky tone. For those of us who have full range rigs with tweeters, the treble control is not that useful, but that control sounds great with one way cabs where you want to push some treble out of the top of the driver.

Wonderful pre. This was posted up earlier in the thread, but here is a pretty detailed clip/review of the functions of the Sadowsky preamp (active, passive, VTC, bass, treble, blend) that I did a while ago, if anyone is interested or hasn't seen it before.

LOTS of tone in the blend control (toward the end of the clip, I demonstrate how to go from a very burpy tone to a somewhat P Bass tone using the blend control while still keeping the single coil pickups to be mostly hum cancelling)

Thanks Ken. I see your point re the treble boost w/ rounds & the nice "ring" inherent in them but w/ flats adding some zing in the top end & then smoothing it out w/ the VTC is a luxury that makes me shiver. LOL. Not used to having that but then there's a boatload of "new" stuff about this baby that makes me shiver. :D

+1 all the way. With flats and/or with a one way cab, that treble control is voiced beautifully! And, as you posted, the VTC combined with the treble control gives you some nice variation on the nature of the top end in those situations!
