The neck feels great! It's a subtle difference and only 0.05 inches narrower at the nut than the standard 1.50 inch Jazz neck.rulyøngo;10311034 said:
Couldn't agree more. Back in October I went into the studio to do some recording work. Before the start of the first session, the engineer mentions that he has a few other basses at my disposal and insists on pulling them all out to try. I'm game for the sake of being polite, so I run through all of them--a custom Precision, a Jaguar, and the third bass escapes me at the moment. We come back around to my Metro and that was that. The engineer doesn't once suggest we go back to using one of the other basses.
And it seems like every other gig another band's bassist is asking me about my gear. The Sadowsky is always the main thing I mention. Thanks, Roger.
Sadowsky Guitars will be moving to Long Island City, just across the East River via the 59th St. Bridge.
We are very excited to be moving to a larger shop space which is only 10 minutes from Rockefeller Center (on the F train).
We expect to be moving between February 15th and March 1st.

Too bad, that's the period I am (for the first time) in NYC.
I was planning on paying a visit tothe shop.....
But Kevin told me that there was a slight chance that I could visit anyway....

Ok my Sadowsky breathren, I am having second thoughts on my Sad NYC order.
To recap, I own a Metro Will Lee in ash/maple and a NYC V4 in alder/maple with full size body and sc's. I just ordered a NYC Will Lee in alder/rw. It was going to replace my NYC.
However, I find myself thinking I should switch to a P body PJ setup with the Will Lee neck profile instead. Then, I would keep my NYC, which I am suddenly having 2nd thougjts on getting rid of. Since I just ordered a week ago, I figured it would not be a big deal for the shop.
Am I nuts? I think I can better justify the 3 with some more variety, not to mention not needing a non Sad P ever!

IMO, I think you would cover a larger sonic landscape with the addition of the P/J, rather than adding another Will Lee.

Any of my fellow Sadowsky owners using compression live? If so, what unit are you using?
I just started playing more heavy rock (the PJ KILLS for this!!!) and have been using compression again. I bought the Markbass Compressore -- great compressor, but it is bulky and has odd power demands.
What are you guys using?

I don't normally use a compressor for my bass signal, but when I do, I like the Demeter Compulator.

Fran, for you, that "another color" always turns out vintage tint.
I was talkin' tone, ya know?
anyway, I promise that my next Sadowsky won't be vintage tint...well, the neck will be, but something different for the body.
Both for me, too. I've also used the Spectracomp in the TC RH450, the compressor in the Eden Time Traveler/WT-405, and the comp in the Carvin BX stuff. They've all worked pretty well for me.
In the past I've also used other comps/limiters, and of those, one of my all-time faves was the one built-into the EBS HD350. Single knob control and it just seemed to "work". Real transparent and while it did its job to control the signal, it didn't seem to hurt dynamics at all, and seemed particularly transparent to tone.
Mostly I leave that stuff off, tho.
Demeter Compulator added too much low end to my signal.
Maxon CP9Pro+ is really great!
Tomorrow I'll be getting an Aguilar TLC as well.
I use compression/limiting to tame excessive peaks by pick playing and filter/synth effects
