Club Sadowsky!!!

I woke up and figured I make some quick clips of my Sadowsky basses, in order:

  1. Standard J HC pups, ash maple
  2. Standard J soapbars, " "
  3. Modern 24 soapbars, alder maple
  4. Standard PJ pups, alder rosewood

Sadowsky SA200 :all tone controls 12:00, fat off, gain 9:00 vol 2:00
DI straight to RME ADI PRO converters to disk: no eq, no compression

Strings are of various ages but none are new: Sadowsky Black and Blue label

Bass preamps turned up a bit, not more than 1/4 turn on bass and treble

Disclaimer: The avatar is what I've been doing from Nov - Memorial day and I haven't played much bass since last summer. This should be apparent.

That is a nice job of representing the slap tone of the various Sadowsky's. It reminds me of how much I dislike the Modern slap tone:D (edit: pure personal opinion and preference there... I'm not a PJ guy either).

I assume the second clip is Sadowsky Seymour Soapbars but in J position.. is that correct?

Correct.

The Modern 24 tone sounds much crisper and punchier in real life...as do all those basses.

I actually found your clip pretty close to the way my Modern sounded when I had it... uber crisp and uber punchy. I can see why some love 'em, and some hate 'em. They are not a bass that people feel 'neutral' about, given the (to my ear) extreme voicing due to that very tight to the bridge pickup placement.

Hi Fran,

congrats for the Euro 2008. :)

Anything in particular you would like to hear?

-Bruno.

Thanks!!! It had been a long time since our team won the Eurocup in the 60's.

Regarding the clips...anything you want to play ...your favorite finger tones.

I woke up and figured I make some quick clips of my Sadowsky basses so people can get a rough idea of the general sound of the basses...

Guys, Can I use these clips for the upcoming Club Sadowsky website?

Oh dear.

I signed for the delivery of my M5-24 a little less than an hour ago. I have the bad feeling this is the beginning of a very expensive addiction/business relationship to/with Sadowsky guitars...

Everything about this bass just blows me away. The EQ is outstanding. The bass is not synthetic and boomy, it's deep and usable for most of its boost range. The treble is magnificent... it's the clearest I've ever heard a bass. I don't know what frequencies I'm hearing, but it's just sparkly and clean and clear.

The fit and finish is amazing, as expected. I love the neck... the perfect medium between chunky and thin. It's... substantial... and that's good in my book!

Wood is beautiful. Gorgeous piece of ash. the maple is great too. What is there to complain about? Nothing I can find. Can't wait to hear how it sounds in a mix :).

The case is awesome too. I'm not sure it can fit in my trunk, but I'm getting a new car soon so it's all good.

Sorry for the crappy pictures. My room is in a state of disarray and my gear is in several different places, so no cool pictures with my other classy gear, but oh well.

The finish is so shiny. Anything that looks imperfect is from the camera... the bass is flawless!

Nice! That burst/maple board is my favorite look for the Modern. That's a nice one! Enjoy!

I'm using my two Sadowsky's to start recording on Monday. I put down the same tracks a few months ago using a Fender Jazz, but I'm excited to hear the difference since that difference is quite clear during rehearsals and worship service at church. I'll probably be back to praise my basses some more once Monday is done with.

If the recording ever gets done, I'll post some clips.
