Just talked to the shop... single coils are going in as I type and the new Blue Label SS strings will be put on shortly after (I wasn't a fan of the original stainless Sadowsky strings on the J style Sadowsky basses, but have high hopes for the new Blue's... although I know my beloved Hi Beams will kill on this bass if the Blue's don't work out). I assume I will have the bass Thursday:bassist:

I'm hoping this one sits right between my RV5 with standard HC pickups and the uber aggressive 'on steroids' Celinder. I'd love to get a bass that has that nice modern but grindy tone like Tal gets on her recent CD release, and this should be pretty close.

That Celinder is awesome, but at this point...too heavy, too over the top 'Marcus' voicing, and the 35" scale is finally, after all these years, feeling a little 'big' for me, at least on a few basses. However, I still need my 'somewhat on steroids aggressive ash/maple tone'. The Alleva is amazing, but is very passive/vintage sounding... it does what it does better than anything, but it really does sound 'organic/passive'.

We shall see!!!!

It's an amazing bass, and even amazing relative to other Celinder's I've played. I again have no plans on selling at the moment, but I'm not a fan of owning something that doesn't regularly get on the gig. So, we will see.

If I do sell, it won't be the typical 'Ken's blow out price' to move it though:smug:

I'm SO on-board with this. It's painful sometimes, but really, at least IMHO, ya gotta' do it. I figure if I'm not playing it, SOMEbody should be!! Seems like such a waste to take any great instrument and lock it up just because the sale will be a bit painful.

If I do sell, it won't be the typical 'Ken's blow out price' to move it though:smug:

+1.. it's getting close to the '1 year not on a gig' Ken rule for being 'out the door'.

We will see if the new Sadowsky scratches that 'on steroids' itch with a smaller body and less weight and 34" scale. I'm hopin':D

I've been eyeing and waiting for just the right Ash/Maple NYC Sadowsky to try. If it doesn't work for you, keep me in mind. Although I have a strong suspicion it's going to be a major KEEPER.

:D With Roger's wonderful 7 day 'no questions asked' trial deal, it will either be a 'keeper' or will be back at the shop in a couple of days. I'm pretty sure I will dig it though.
