A coupe of updated slightly nicer photos than the rush jobs from Sunday night:

I'm definitely still getting used to the brightness and snap of the ash/maple combo. Coming off the darker alder/rosewood with P pickup that my other bass has, this one has just so much "zing" in the tone that the VTC is getting much more of a workout. Its definitely a bass, like the MTD, that you can safely EQ by cutting the high end rather than adding to the low end. The bark when the bridge pickup is solo'd is great too. These big singles really are a whole new thing when it comes to pickup sounds. Carey may have very well invented a "new pickup" design in the truest sense of the word. For frnt pickup action, I think by a small margin I prefer the P pickup in the daphne blue bass, but on the bridge and for slap this new one kills (I just gotta learn to slap better) and the chords ring beautifully. Its actually prettier in the flesh than in pictures, which is hard to belive, but the finish is just flawless.

Also, the Sadowsky strap that it shipped with is much nicer than the comfort straps I have been using to date. Why hasn't anyone mentioned how awesome these straps are? I feel like an idiot for using comfort straps for so long!

That's a great looking bass. I need to hear the big singles... haven't heard them yet.

I ordered a Sadowsky strap today along with my VTC add-on. I hope it's as good as you say it is :).

I am thinking of ordering another sadowsky soon... My NYC has gotten me more work from its pure consistency from gig to gig.. Plus the Sadowsky Customer Service is the finest that i have ever seen in my life...from any company except for genz benz theirs is just as good

That's a beauty. Also, thanks for the tip on the Sadowsky strap. I love the Comfort Strapps, so if the Sadowsky is 'better', that's VERY cool!

The Sadowsky straps are (IME) fine if you only want to have them set to roughly the same length. However, there's not much range for adjustment on them, which is why they come in three different lengths.

Certainly not a "hate post" (they really are comfortable :)), but the reason I gave mine away was that I couldn't easily adjust the playing position from "chinny slapping" :p to "rock" mode :bassist:.

Just a thought :hmm:!

Ken, the Sadowsky strap is not much like the Comfort. It's their own OEM version of the Neotech. I think the only diff is it says Sadowsky on it and it might have a longer section of Neoprene on it. I always thought the Comforts were too bulky, but I really like the Neotech stuff. The "downside" of these is if you have a particularly heavy bass, they're kinda' bouncy. They don't have the stretch limiting design the Comfort has. On a lighter bass (9 pounds or less, like most NYC's), I think these are actually more comfortable because they're thinner.
