Headstock does not match... but I don't care. :hyper: Neither the Skjold or the MTD were involved in this trade - but if you follow Rodney's posts back a few days you'll figure it out. ;)

I've only gotten to play this out once so far, and that just at rehearsal, but initial impressions are VERY good. I've owned several Modern 5's before, both NYC and Metro flavors, and have always ended up moving them on b/c the basic tone was a little too mid-heavy and honky for me, particularly on the slow/ballad type tunes. This Standard addresses that issue very nicely while still preserving all the things I like about the Sad humbuckers. Plenty of bottom end but still manages to stay quite articulate in the mix. The only concern I had about this bass was if it would lose too much of the mids and not cut through a dense mix in our room with brick walls and crappy acoustics. That was not a problem at rehearsal, though, sounded great with the blend at 50%, and just a relatively small turn of the blend knob to favor the bridge pickup cuts like a knife.

I always end up being more comfortable with 34" scale too, so this bass is a plus there. Not to mention that it's REALLY nice to look at. :D

That sounds right. I think the use of "modern" is something we cooked up at TB. I am as guilty as any. Or maybe it's from the "M" signature in that bass of the Metro line?

The true "modern" is the 24-5. That body is different and of course it has 24 frets.
