It was 1995-96 and we were recording our debut album when the producer said "You should fly to NYC and buy a Sadowsky...that's the tone I want.". Being a poor medical student, that was not an option, but Roger set me up with the outboard preamp, and that did the trick. Many years later, I finally got my first Sadowsky through TB, and have had 4 (still have 2).
About 11 years ago the wife and I were on a cruse down thru Mexico , the big band was rehearsing for the nights show , we kind of snuck in and listened to the rehearsal , the bass tone was amazing , they took a break and I went up and asked the bass player about the bass , nice guy , he let me play it for a bit , some of the band joined in for a cool improv jam , needless to say it was a Sadowsky , when I got home I sold a dirt bike I had and bought a standard 5 ash maple , I still have and love that bass , it's a forever keeper ,
Just got this in a trade with another Tb'er... out of 6 basses I own, three are Sadowskys.

how do you like that bass , im sure it is great , as much as I love my MTD I have been contemplating selling it to get one of the modern 24's like that , im just not enjoying the 35 scale anymore , ive really wanted one of those for years ,Just got this in a trade with another Tb'er... out of 6 basses I own, three are Sadowskys.

I know how you feel, I traded my MTD 435 for my Sadowsky, I just couldn't get used to the 35" scale...

Beautiful!!!! How does that pickup config compare to the standard setup?
For me, it'd be very very favorably. I'd be afraid to play that one myself... might hit the bank account pretty hard the next day...

You don't need to be a member... just post the URL to the image wherever you have it (such as photobucket) within the IMG markup. It's better that way anyway... that way you don't suffer the way TB limits and resizes "attachments".

Must have been like the early 90's, but I always noticed either a natural quilt top/maple fingerboard 4 string or a cherryburst version.
And I always loved either one.
I called Sadowsky and they sent me a catalog and price list.
A loaded 4 was like $2300 or so!!!
On the old alt.guitar.bass I started inquiring about them. Mike Brignardello and I exchanged quite a few e-mails.
So I finally bought one in 97 or so.
I'd love to see a couple scans from that catalogue if you still have it. Man - what a souvenir!

Apr 1999 got a call at work from Evan Sheeley Bass NW, said he had a bass he wanted me to try out. Bought it that night and it is being packed up for a show tonight.

I didn't want to get into it too much on this thread, but the bass I traded my Metro PJ5 away for is a U.S. Lakland with Chisonic pickups in it. (LH3 preamp) It has the PU location very, very similar to this.
There are some things about it that make it very appealing. It still has a modern flair to it, but the forward neck PU and even the bridge PU farther forward tends to round out the tone a bit.
It's a very nice bass and a nice backup to the Sadowsky.
