I can't really identify it, but is that the Metro M5-24? If so, I am surprised that it sits so well in the mix. I have heard comments about how the Modern "cuts" more than "sits" with its pickup placement, and I had doubts that it will perform in a nice R&B setting like this. However, I can definitely hear that the tone sits abit "higher" in the mix.

Yes, I watched several of the vids in the series and it sure looks like a modern 24 to me.

I agree that I was surprised to see one in this setting, but I think it sounds fabulous. I also loved the sound of the one I messed around with in the Sadowsky shop back in july. I was surprised by how much I liked it, because I'd been expecting something way too zingy.

I *did* find that the one I tried practically slapped itself, which for a slap-loser like me, it a real plus...

Those vids sound a lot like the tone I get with mine. In my mind, "cutting" suggests something more harsh, and I wouldn't call the bass harsh.

It does have a very strong, articulate voice.

the one thing that I have noticed about it is that it is so strong and articulate that it makes it hard to play other basses. My 24-5 is VERY clearly audible in the stage at even modest volumes. I hear every nuance of my playing. Once you get used to that, it is hard not to have it.
