Shipped the last Sadowsky off today.
I guess I'll live vicariously through the club thread for a while!
I'm happy with the bass I landed. I put some Sadowsky blues on it last night and worked with the setup for a hour or so. It has a remarkably similar feel and playability, but it don't sound sound like no Sadowsky!

I'm still shaking my head that that was the problem. I've never had that happen before. But it is fixed.
12 years? That was back when they seemed to be really rare here on the west coast. I got my first Sadowsky around 10 years ago and still swear that it is the best bass I've ever played.
Yes, the Blues Fest is great and the weather is comfortable. I use to go and spend all 4 days there in the past. But it's been tough with work commitments the past few years.
Just sent back my CCAF for this. Was waiting for it to land and see how much it weighed. Sub-9lbs works for me. As an added bonus it'll get a quick swap to 18mm bridge spacing. To quote Goldilocks, "this one looks just right..."

Guy in the band playing after us last night had a Sad 5-string JJ. Sounded great. Awesome fun band too - self-described "kind of a Bulgarian Tower of Power"

So, does the placement of the new soapbars result in a different sound? I drew lines between two models (one with the older, one with the newer soapbars) and although the 'beginning' of the pickups is the same, due to the smaller shell of the newer ones, the 'center' and 'ending' of the pickups are placed towards the neck... So I wonder if they sound a little different...

Seeing as how the centers of the pickups are off by 1/4" (or less), I can't believe that placement alone will make a noticeable difference in tone even if all else were equal. But of course all else is never equal, and in this case the pickups themselves are different, which is more likely to account for some difference in tone, especially if there's a difference in pickup type (single coil vs. 'bucker, series vs. parallel coil config, etc).

Speaking of, I was on the studio this week with the mv5-24. Every time I plug it in, I get a comment from the producer. I think I have finally taught him to pronounce your name.
. I just hope he doesn't run me off next time when I show up with something else.
Just took a look at the enlargements of this on the site. THAT is a very nice bass bro. Like the wide band burst, the alder's grain, the fretboard, & the weight is respectable also. (not to mention the dollar value!)

I'm a sucker for alder/rw/sunburst. Been intrigued by the Modern series as I'm not a JJ kinda guy. Currently don't have a fretted 5 and have a wait until my Skjold is done. I used to play nothing but 5s until about 6 months ago when I forced myself back into 4s. Been digging that, but have a gig that could use an extended range (24 frets) instrument. My hands will appreciate the 34" scale and the tone should be 180 degrees from my RAs.
