Club Sadowsky!!!

Oh hey... a couple of you guys (Blair, at least) were asking for more video of Red. I've been lazy, but a fan shot some video at my 6/18 gig and the link made its way to me via Facebook. I wish she'd filmed another song, but what the heck.

Setup: Sadowsky P5 strung with D'Addario Chromes flatwounds, Reiner tube preamp (made by TalkBasser JGR), Stewart World 2.1 power amp, Bergantino NV610 bass cab.

YouTube - Bad Weather Boyz

P.S. The guitarist is my brother, he's playing a '63 Fender Strat thru a Fuchs rig

Well - THAT happened! (at last)
Thanks Ken. That candy red sure is a sight under the lights bro. I needed that. Nothing like some P to put a smile on my face. Nice everything. I'll get some P4 w/chromes up here shortly. It's only live in my apartment though. :D
Well done. Looks like a fun gig. Anytime!

A couple of actions shots from our CD Release Party this past Saturday night. Loads of fun!

Yeah, it's a fun gig. The singer is a character, to put it mildly. And yeah, Sadowsky CAR is yummy! :)

I'm still getting used to the feel of flats, but I love the tone for R&B. (For the record I use a little bit of tube overdrive, but the video camera added more). I'm looking forward to more audio from you!

Flats are not the easiest string to master are they. They require special attention to damping or the "ring" can get away from ya. Lots of string area on the fret. They inherently have a growl, or "overdrive" quality on the bottom. A nice bit of drive on the south end of the cable also seems to fit a flats sound IMO. With the Great River preamp I'm using now for these overdubs, I can mix in some front end gain on some tunes that just makes me cry.( but then I even cry at an Italian meal.) :D

Hi Tom, thank you for the info. I'll give that a try. I also think that I am going to go back and set it up where I started and go from there.

I'm not able to call the shop since I am on the road to work before the shop opens and don't get off until they are closed.:hmm:

Talked to Lisa today...the point of tightening the B string side of the retainer was to ensure that it was touching the B string. (I also came down a hair on the G string side.) That and a little neck relief took care of my "knock" Hope this helps

I just wanted to say I think the Sadowsky 5 string neck is very special. :)

Oh, I'll agree with that.

I also love the larger side dots and circular jack plate! Hey, we all know about the wonderful Sadowsky fretwork, neck pocket, chambering, pickups, preamp, etc... I just wanna give props to these relatively minor (but useful) improvements that don't often get the love. :p

Have to agree with that comment  I had a day yesterday where I pulled out all my basses and kept coming back to the Sadowsky 5 as my absolute favourite, even to the point where I have decided to start thinning the heard as I just don't see some of my basses making it out the door EVER again

Any one else been there?

...also the truss rod adjustment wheel, the great easy to use bridge, etc.

I started drinking the Sadowsky Kool-aid 4 years ago and sold off all my Modulus Quantums. I've owned about 5 Sadowskys since. I'm down to 2 Standard 4's but, I'm sure it doesn't stop there!

Roger's basses just work for my tone goals and I don't see me using anything else going forward. I feel the same way about the Blue label SS strings too!

Can anyone tell me what kind of Sadowsky the Bass Player of Maximum the Hormone plays?

Is it just a ramp or is it a Humbucker+Jazz Sadowsky?

I know he has at least 3 Sadowskys. The red and white one from the Video and a completely black one

Probalby some kind of custom out the Tokyo shop. I've seen alot things come out of there that they don't do on the NYC or Metro models... even a couple of 6 strings.
