Club Sadowsky!!!

Placed my new Standard 4 build today with Kevin.
Now the fun part! Reminds me of a Tom Petty song......

Placed an order w/Kevin last week for a pair of NYC Moderns-

a fretted mahogany body//rosewood fretboard, and the fretless w/ an alder body w/morado fingerboard.

I found the money for the downpayment; still not clear on where the rest will come from. Gotta throw your hat over the fence sometimes if you want to climb up and over it....

I've got a pair of alder bodied MTD's which nail the Jazz tone very well, but I'm not down with the 35" scale thing. I tend to play my Carvin B-50 a lot more than the MTD's because of it. The Sadowsky's will be awesome and deliver that awesomeness with 34" goodness.

Hi all - Thought I would post this photo I took today of my Metro MV5. Makes for a nice image on my computer's desktop. If you click on it it should open at around 2000 pixels wide. Anyone else have Sadowskys on their desktop? If so, let's see em!

...I only ever let Roger's basses on my desktop...

Right now, this one is my absolute favorite and I suspect next year I will need to order one similar to it....

Right now I have this on my desktop, my vintage Fender Jazz (1972) and my vintage Sadowsky SWR (1988). Best of both worlds!

I just picked up my first Sadowsky bass yesterday over in lovely L.I.C., N.Y.C! A pre-owned Will Lee NYC model.

It was a true pleasure meeting Kevin and Roger in person, and visiting the shop was a real treat. Such a friendly and professional operation.

I'm more and more impressed with this bass with each additional minute I spend playing it. It just oozes quality and craftsmanship in every way, from the gorgeous top and finish, to the impeccable setup and fretwork, the astonishingly quiet electronics (I've never had single coils with such low noise), the brilliantly fitted neck joint, and the incredibly solid feel, while being a very light bass.

It's also by far the easiest bass to play cleanly that I've ever held in my hands. This despite it being a very "alive," resonant instrument. It really wants to sing, but it's disciplined and pays attention to the choir director!

The weight balance is just perfect, and the matte-ish neck finish is just sooo comfortable. I think I underestimated just how much impact the extra-narrow nut on this model has as well... it's just so very easy to play and move around on this fingerboard. The low (but not compromisingly low) action doesn't hurt in keeping the speed limit at autobahn levels, either.

The array of sounds this bass can make is astonishing... and not a bad one in the bunch. Between the two different active circuits, the VTC, and even straight passive mode, this is truly a bass for the professional... I can't think of a situation where this bass couldn't fill the role required. It's just my chops that have to seize the opportunity now, with no roadblocks in the way!

Sure, it caused a couple of flutters in the old ticker when whipping out the AMEX for admission into this club, but I cannot imagine a better investment for my musical indulgence. Long after those dollars are no longer missed, I hope to hold this bass in my hands and let it be a facilitating conduit for my emotion, expression, and creativity. It's an inspiring instrument, an inspiring company, and an inspiring man behind it all.

Thanks for making the bass world a better place Roger. I'm thankful to have the opportunity and means to enjoy your contribution first hand!

So this bass joins a Pedulla Pentabuzz, a Modulus Q5, and an older 4-string Stambaugh bass in my stable, along with some other junky basses. If this love affair keeps up, though, I can see the first two easily falling to Sadowsky replacements over the next couple of years.

I'm a happy man!
