Nah, just a DI box. I don't mind playing via DI if my amp dies, plus they don't hurt as much.

Which, again, is why I removed the finish from Blackie, my '05 P5 (back of the neck, specifically). I used 300 grit sandpaper, so no worries about metal grit. End result: I *love* the feel! It's only a matter of time before I do the same with Whitey and Red.

Doesn't sound silly at all, basses that you can really connect with are rare. The neck on my old NYC was just amazing, it felt and played so well. I've still not come across a bass that was set up as well as my Sadowsky was...

Finally... I can't decide between Vintiquity burst, or trans-something over quilt. (Talk about two extremes!)

I'm looking at a Metro 5 model, and play in a wall of sound rock band a la Alter Bridge, Sick Puppies, Buckcherry etc.
I was looking at the Moderns but I'm not a fan of the slap sound. What other model would be the most 'cutting' and aggressive for a rock band?

Just play your Fodera, Robin. If any of the several Fodera's I've owned sounded like yours it would be my main bass.
