I would not make any claims regarding roasted maple and dead spots. But I have not made enough necks with roasted maple to note any empirical differences. The biggest improvements we have made regarding dead spots are the thicker headstock and the graphite strips in the NYC's. But it is not like we had a major issue with them before this change or on the Metro Line.

EDIT: I don't see what the problem is? My first post regarding this subject was pretty clear IMO. I just wanted to know the relationship between roasted maple necks and dead spots (because to my knowledge no one had brought it up before.) Excluding Roger's most recent post nobody actually added anything of value other than guesswork, so when I found that post over at the EB forums, I thought I'd share it as a follow up to my own question in case someone else was interested.

My "asked and answered" was not intended to upset anyone or act as an excuse? More as an "OK lets move on", as that was the feeling I got from Vic's "this has been posted before".

I was commenting on the fact that some of us were charging ahead more than anything else. Once someone gets interested, these convos just grow into something huge. Not a negative thing...

Need to relax a little bit. This is a witty, borderline smartass group here. But in a fun way. I thought the quote I included from Ernie Ball was fairly clear, and in other forums I've heard it tossed around that roasting a neck further dries it out, which if vintage fenders that are 40plus years old can be used as an example gives you a more resonant neck. Most pre CBS Fenders I've played have this quality and are very loud acoustically. Maybe (I'm no expert) this has to do with an older neck having more time to dry out and not have resonance-killing water in it? Just speculating.

I imagine Roger got enough requests for this that he decided to adapt and offer this option. I remember asking for an anodized gold guard several years ago and was told that they wouldn't do that. Flash forward and I've seen him offer them and have even owned one (Bluesy's current PJ5) with that option. Another example is the mid boost option for the Will Lee models.

Still waiting on that WL5 and a Six String Sadowsky of any type. I'll take it roasted/toasted or broasted.

I saw a pic of a 6-string Sadowsky TYO at some point. I can't remember too much, but it had gold hardware (I think). Uh... one of the moderns, IIRC. Buuut you have to go to Japan.

I'm totally going by memory, here. The TYOs might not even exist any more for all I know.

Correct me if I'm wrong, and for the love of my bank account may this be so, but isn't that a Japan-only item that can not be sold in the US or to someone in the US?

I DO have an old college roommate who is a native and lives in Tokyo.....

Sorry, I accidentally posted my edit before I was done. Re-edited now. And yes, you'll have to take a plane trip.
