For me, with binding, I pretty much only like pearl blocks and white binding on a maple board. Otherwise, I prefer dots and no binding (sorry Chef, I know you dig the dots/binding a lot).
I remember you commenting on the ash/rw spec when I was asking about it when my build was in progress. I had never played that spec with flats prior to that. I really dig the result. I noticed that Roger is building a few of them lately as well.
I would love to hear how you make out w/flats should you wish to experiment w/them on your ash/rw J4. I suspect it won't be your 1st go w/them but if you've never played them before it may take some acclimation time to get comfy & get them talking well. Just mess w/the action, & your fingering a bit. Rolling off the VTC a bit will help with adjusting to flats but I think, for the most part they sound best with it full up & a bit of treble boost on the preamp, when you get comfortable. Have fun bro.

I would have had binding put on this also if Roger would have offered. I am different, I love blocks and binding. I also wish I would have went with the upcharge on the BE Maple. I just love BNW. I haven't been there in awhile since the freakin' cost of gas has made most fun trips prohibitive.
