Club Sadowsky!!!

But I'm in the camp that says the diff between one RW and the other disappears once you add other band members and an amp or PA, so I'd personally make the choice based on aesthetics. And the aesthetics of Amazon RW sure seem amazing.

I downloaded the latest Sadowsky price list a few days back, but Amazon's not listed yet.

Thanks. Some if the songs were from the very early days and I had to learn them for the first time. It was a bit tricky as a lot of them were 5-7 minutes with lots if parts. It went off about as well as I could have hoped for.

Quick backstory: Dead Rebecca was a New Orleans based progressive metal band in the 80's and 90's. The band reformed from 2000-2002 with me replacing the string of previous bassists (like Spinal Tap drummers). The singer moved to Hawaii but came home for 2 weeks last Mardi Gras. We were able to get two quick practices and do a reunion gig. The 2nd guitarist had actually not been in the band (or played any other gigs) since around 1990.

Anyway, our friend just mixed the opening song and edited the 2 camera shoot. I used my Metro Will Lee 4 (ash+maple) for the whole gig, so here it is in action.

I cover a wide range between my 2 bands anyway. One is metal while the other does country, blues and nola stuff!

I may not have great chops, but at least I'm versatile! Kind of why I love the Sads, such versatile basses. I've used that same bass on a gig playing stuff like Steve Earle and Professor Longhair! All I adjusted was the VTC knob!

7.9 lbs on my Standard 5...no significant neck dive with a neoprene strap.

It's hard to make a big deal over something so small when the basses are so bloody brilliant, though. I just think that the Sadowsky headstock would look punchier with the full-sized barrels is all.

I joined an oldies / doo wop band about a month & a ½ ago. For the audition & rehearsals, I've usually grabbed my P bass (I mean, no brainer, right? .. p bass with flats for oldies :D). The one exception was when I took my now-former Lakland 44-02.

Anyhow, last night I decide to bring my Metro MV4 WL, which I bought 3 months ago. During an instrumental section in one of the songs, one of our lead singers comes over to me while I'm still playing & says that not only can she hear the bass, but she can feel it, too, and it really adds to the song.

So, though I've usually subscribed to the Groucho Marx viewpoint on joining clubs, I respectfully request a number for my 1st club membership!

Playing my friend Roadkill2309's Standard 5 last week got me thinking about how much I miss having a Sadowsky option when it comes to gigs. I still have my Standard 4 and I love that bass to death but 95% of my gigs these days require a 5.

Then, to make matters worse, my "friend" goes and tells me about the Master Grade gallery! :rolleyes: :help:

My willpower didn't stand a chance.

So today I spoke to Kevin... :hiding:

In stark contrast, playing your standard 4 brought my 'some day' clone of it back into the front of my head instead of the back, so I priced it out with the master grade top and FB -- and got terrified.

Then I bought a lottery ticket ;)

when placing my build order Kevin told me that the Amazon was a very similar to Brazilian in density but legal to ship overseas. Also I believe he mentioned the Brazilian is more figured than the Amazon.
I've ordered Amazon.
