Club Sadowsky!!!

Again, a dedicated forum has much more ability to thread/control content, make it searchable, and such.

Yeah, I'm just wondering if its worth the man hours even to keep spam off a whole new forum instead of maybe expanding the support section of the Sadowsky site, maybe with a user-generated content section, where that bit about sanding the back if the necks could live, along with other pieces of knowledge that might have been bandied about the forums.

The answer may very well be yes, of course...

+1

Facebook is a completely different solution for a completely different purpose. It's not designed to fully support multiple coherent threaded topical discussions. That's what a BB/forum is for.

A basic forum/BB configuration is not a big task. It's generally set/forget. Maybe have to deal with a few spam issues, but shouldn't be a big problem since a Sadowsky forum wouldn't be huge on any spammers' radars.

See---this is why I love Club Sadowsky.....

I appreciate all the feedback and will continue to look for a new platform for the new Sadowsky Forum.

Keep your software suggestions coming....

Roger

Wow... If I had not asked about it, It may just have disappeared altogether!

So yea, I'm a lurker in the Sadowsky thread. I don't own any of Roger's basses but I do admire them. For what it's worth, I have used your strings in the past with great success. :)

What if Sadowsky had a Sponsored Forum like that of Roscoe and Warwick. G&L used to have one. That would give you more than this thread.

Just my thoughts. Big fan of your work, Roger.

I used to run a forum for my band. As radar-free as one can get, but we still took it down because we were buried under spam. But it might come down to some forum apps being better than others at spam avoidance.

And I agree about the Facebook et al not operating the way a forum does. I think I'm wondering what the ultimate purpose would be. If we're talking about Roger having more freedom to disseminate info, then I stand by my first statement. If we're talking about keeping a healthy convo going, then there's going to be no benefit over what is already here at TB. If its for easily finding info on Sadowskys, then what I said about expanding the site's support section is legit.

Bear in mind that everything I'm saying is based on a very few visits to the old Sadowsky forum, where things looked less active than here, so it's the granularity if the benefit versus the effort involved that makes me wonder. If I'm wrong then I'll man up to it.

I can see a real benefit to a forum where Sadowsky bassists and guitarists can talk freely together, though. That certainly doesn't get answered by anything I've said.

A user/owner wiki perhaps, or knowledge base? That would be a nice resource.

Agreed.

The other thing is, I didn't even think of a Sadowsky sponsored area here like madbassplaya brought up, which, honestly, might even be the best solution overall. We wouldn't have to keep doing "new ones" every 1K posts (at least as I understand it), and I think it does significantly relax the CUPS right?
