I'm really into this color lately! Can hardly wait to see the final build! :hyper::hyper:

So tell me if I'm getting this right:

You have an armadillo you keep in your pants that sets up your back line, and a gorilla bass tech? Does Mrs. Chef have to clean up after your "employees?"
Armadillo? I don't need no stinking armadillo!

And yes, Chef does some cleanup. How else would he afford these fine instruments, huh? ;) :D

Another point of view...
Now, this --does not apply to my Sadowsky MV5PJ--

But, a 1972 Fender ash/maple P was my main touring bass for a long time, and, it was always "fresh nickles, everything wide open.''

The only thing I used the pots on that bass for was to turn it off b/t songs.

+1 for me those are the two tones that matter in bass. 60s or 70s passive P with fresh wounds full up, and ash/maple sadowsky J, all flat for finger and pick, roll the boost knobs up together and volume knob back for slap. Done.

Those both sound ideal direct and through the same amps too. And both sound bad through some "clean/modern" amps unless you apply a lot if eq at the amp. Ive spent enough time hearing bass direct through la-2s, neve consoles, and good monitors to know that is NOT what most "clean/modern" amps sound like. Its frustrating actually, because thats the tone id like to hear from my amps.

Massive digression ... back on topic, my sadowsky sounds insane in garage band through a cheap apogee adapter, or pretty much anything else you plug it into.

i just love that black one

Ooh, I'm all about the P-bass. I keep my warhorse Blackie strung with rounds. VTC is wide open, and I add treble boost and some OD -- note that I use the Berg NV610 (sealed, no tweet). That's with my hard rock band. I stick with grindy growly aggressive tones even for classic Zep and AC/DC, but it sounds especially appropriate with Alice In Chains, Godsmack, Metallica.

I use Red in my classic rock/Stax/Motown band. She's currently strung with TI flats, and unless I'm doing a little slap (Brick House) then the VTC is rolled back. Tone is most dephinitely phat.
