Roger and Jason both confirmed that it was underway. I recall some time ago that Roger had sent some prototypes to Jason for his approval/feedback. I want to say that was now a few months ago.

No worries, like I said who am I to say how someone sets their bass up? So I eased off the truss rod a quarter turn and put it down for half and hour. Came back to find crack opened up in the back of the headstock, starting at one of the screw holes for the E tuners and running an inch down the back of the neck across the grain.

Disappointing doesn't quite cover it (and it was such a nice neck, sigh)

We've decided to leave it and monitor it. It's playing fine and sounding great. Going to keep photos and see if it opens any more. Best guess is it won't - in the workshop we actually tried and it's stable.

Short story - the bass is functionally perfect, but just ....

Meh, I would have purchased it anyway, it's that good, but I would have bargained a little harder perhaps.

We shall see.

"headstock crack from the tuner hole"

I don't think this is hugely uncommon.
I think I remember one of my basses doing this, and I think it was repaired with "water weight" super glue wicked into the crack.
I'm sure if you call Roger and ask, he'll have advise on what to do with that.

Well, more like talking about getting one myself. I was talking about maybe getting another metro when this one popped up for sale locally. I showed it to her, like I do with a lot of cool gear, and she suggested that I go at least play it. Once we got there she told me that if I wanted it, she'd buy it. It was amazing.

Re: upcoming Jason Newsted Sadowsky model. Are there any hints as to the pickup type and location, number of frets (24?), and nut width? Since he favors lighter models, I would assume NYC only. Thanks!!!

BTW, that 69 Guild Starfire II in my avatar now the proud owner of an onboard Sadowsky preamp with Multicoil pickups (ala Wal) in HB shells. OMG what a difference, this thing now leaps out in the mix and has some of the deepest groundshaking E string sounds in recent memory :-)
