What do you guys think about the tall and narrow fret wire that Sadowsky uses? Do you like it, or would you prefer lower and wider wire?

I never noticed the fret wire so I'm fine with whatever they're using now.

It's not tall like Gibson tall,
IMO

It's perfect, for me.

Sadowsky wire is .090" x .051", I think it's a little lower on the Will Lee model, and they use small wire on the vintage models. On my new Kinal I'm going with .090" x .055" EVO Gold. I asked for the wire to be dressed down lower, closer to .050". This has had to be the hardest choice on that bass. My Sadowsky was the example.

For sure there are various preferences that make a Sadowsky a good fit or not for a particular player. But, fretwork can not, IMO/E, possibly be part of that discussion. Both fretwork and setup on every single instrument that comes out of either shop are a 12 on a scale of 10. I have never played bass guitars with better playing response. If that helps.

Agreed. Phenomenal fretwork. I love my Sadowsky. Kinal makes a fantastic instrument as well, his prices are more reasonable and is completely custom. They are also more rounded and more comfortable to play, but the Sadowsky is amazing. I love them both.

I think its one part of it, all the little details add up to why a sadowsky doesn't sound like a fender jazz.

Works fine for me.

The neck characteristic that makes the biggest difference in feel to me is the width at the nut. I absolutely love the narrower width on my Will Lee fivers (Metro and NYC).

I have the 1.75" nut on my Modern. I like the narrow nut better as well.

I think my Nordy has compound radius.
Both it and the sadowsky feel pretty flat, truthfully

I get along with both just fine.

I never think about fingerboard radius and have never had any issues with any bass I've played where radius is concerned.

Roger offers both the 9"/compound radius on the Ultra Vintage spec and his more standard 12" radius. I have an original '62 with the 9" radius; and I guess I very slightly prefer it. But, I also have zero issues with the 12" on my RV4. IIRC, there is a pretty nice looking Metro UV on the site right now.

#6302 made a very brief recent appearance on eBay. I drooled over it for a couple of days; then it thankfully sold.

For 5's, the only 9" radius I am aware of is the Fender Marcus Miller V. I gigged one of those for 2 or 3 years. Nice neck profile; though I am no fan of bound necks.
