Club Sadowsky!!!

I did something pretty radical recently. I have a UV 70 that has a neck that I love. I decided to have a new body made for it. My goal was to create a hybrid Sadowsky/ vintage Fender! A great luthier in Chicago ,Phil Fensel, helped me find a really light weight dry piece of alder. He took computer images of the original body & did a CNC cut of the wood to make the new body. The new body is 1/8" thinner front to back than the original to be closer to 60s Fender spec. The bridge pick up is located exactly BETWEEN 60s & 70s location and I went with Reed James RJ Neo pickups. The bass is totally passive. This project is definitely not for the faint of (Sadowsky) heart but it came out exactly as I hoped it would and I LOVE the tone. All the goodness of a passive 60s Jazz, the bite of a 70s Jazz with just a touch of Sadowsky magic and completely hum & noise free.

I've had a Ultra Vintage P/J 5 and a Standard 5 in the past (had to sell due to finances) but am still playing my Modern 5. I can't ever see myself getting rid of this bass! It's absolutely amazing! Beautiful and sounds great! Here's my contribution to the club :)

I remember sharing the bill with your band a few years back in Brooklyn (Women on the Loose was the show)... Your Sadowsky (I think it was a PJ at the time) sounded awesome!!!

Yes I remember you and that show! Weren't you playing a 4 string 24 fret Sadowsky at the time? I was playing my black Sadowsky PJ at the time and I did love that bass. Shame I had to part with it but I do love my Modern so much now! Great being able to reconnect with you on here!

Sweet, yep I still have the 24 PJ Sadowsky... such a killer bass! I just set it up with piccolo strings for fun, we'll see how that goes...

That sounds sweet! Best of luck to you on that! I do remember that being a killer bass (as pretty much all Sadowsky's are!) I set up my Modulus Flea FJ-5 with piccolo strings a while back and have been having a blast with it. It inspired to start writing solo music and using alternate tunings.

The wait is over! My new Metro MV5-24 arrived today.

I have some things I need to get done around the house this weekend, but it's going to be tough to be productive...

Thanks. The Christmas lights just went up this week.

I LOVE the deep cut-away on the body of this thing. The upper neck access is very impressive - which is kinda funny, because I consider myself a "meat and potatoes" player who rarely gets above the 9th fret.

Also, I think the straight-on angle of the photos that are used on the Sadowsky website don't really do justice to the sleek and sexy contours of this bass.

And it's lighter than expected. The specs put it at just over 9 lbs, but I find it hard to believe. (No scales available at the moment.)

Been awhile since I posted a picture here on TB. Anyway, I usually post my NYC's but today it's all about that MV4HPJ METRO! I LUVVVVV THIS BASS!
This Metro is going to be my gigging bass now that I have joined an all-girl band. I'm still using the NYC models for home recording.
