Thanks, @FunkSheep08! I called the shop at least 3 years before I actually ordered mine to see if they could do Purple. They said yes. But, since there are many shades of Purple I needed to see a sample. I was sent a pic of a Modern 5 they did before in Trans Purple and I was like "YES! That's what I want!" I ordered it 8 months before my 50th birthday and it arrived home just 2 days after my birthday! I am still extremely happy with it! Here was the first pic I got of it after it came back from spray!
By the way, hat tip to @Joeykun ...think your Trans Purple bass was my initial inspiration for going with a unique color. Saw yours...noticed the color wasn't on their stock listing..."hey, wait, they'll make it whatever color you want?"And I still like yours a lot...toyed with the idea of getting that finish for a while.

The 1/2 requires a little reaming out of the 3/8 hole. You can do it, if you take your time, but they will not fit without expanding the hole slightly.

It was probably Pat Wilkins, who I understand does most of the finishes for NYC Sadowskys and US Laklands. His work is incredible, and by all accounts he's a super-cool guy to deal with. Pat Wilkins Guitars and Finishing
The 3/8" licensed Ultralights require a 14mm hole. For the 1/2" posts... the licensed ones need a 16mm (5/8") hole while the USA Ultralights are bigger at 21/32" (though 17mm is good).

My First Sadowsky and I am hooked. Was very nervous to trade my LB-100 for it but now I will never look back. I will proudly take a number if you do that here.

Maybe if I ever stump for a Modern 24. Would probably go flame maple though just for something different...
The sort of top and body natural finish was made for. Absolutely beautiful.
I'm kind of torn...on one hand, bummed that I didn't get progress pics (only the finished bass)...but having something this good to look at would make the wait more tortuous, I'd think...?? What's your take? Is it making the wait harder or easier?
Gorgeous top! I wish the Sadowsky shop would not refer to okoumé as mahogany though (since it isn't mahogany).
