Since discovering Sadowsky the only bass I kept is my 25 year old Fender Jazz. I only wish I took the plunge long ago!

Will do! I was dreaming of a quilted maple with trans green a la @BluesyCat's red one, but this was a great price and the CAG is a very close second in my book.Green is a highly underrated bass color, rock it hard!

What cases are people using with their Sadowsky 5s?
I'm using the semi-rigid case which came with my MV5, which I actually really like, but even after a month is not standing up to heavy use. I play 3 or 4 times a week and the zip is catching and some of the piping is coming away.
I would love a Sadowsky hard case and have enquired, but it looks like the weak pound will mean shipping and the exchange rate could cost a bomb.
Would a standard Hiscox or SKB or other fit it securely?
I love this bass and want it properly secure and protected when in transport.

I've used the Sadowsky Zero Gravity soft case and it works pretty well, although one of the bumpers/feet just fell off, so need to screw on a new one. I have the Gator soft casee for my Lakland 55-94 and very happy with it, although the handle isn't as nice as the Zero Gravity. I saw the SKB soft case on Sweetwater yesterday and it looked like the best of both worlds, although I can't vouch that it will handle the 5 neck, although it should.

I was going to recommend the Sadowsky Portabag. If that's the default case for Metros then never mind. But if not: I don't rehearse/gig as often as you, but I've been using a pair of Portabags frequently since 2010 (when I got a pair of NYC P5s) and they have held up very well, even though I tend to stuff too much into the large (huge!) outer pocket.
Thanks for all the recommendations. The Portabag does look good. Shoulder straps are always useful too. Will see how much they cost to get sent over.

@Fuzzbass the Metros come with a rectangular semi hard case. It is like moulded foam. It is nice and light and quite rigid. But, where it doesn't have back straps it does get the odd knock, when loading or unloading or rushing through doors. I'd rather have a back pack like the Portabag or a completely rigid hard case. Rather than something in between.
Don't get me wrong, the Metro case is very nice, but I don't think it'll last. Unfortunately I just got unlucky and mine has a weak zip and some loose stitching. Otherwise, I don't doubt it's durability.

Another vote in favor of the Portabag. I've been using one for about two months, and it's fairly protective, and the pockets can hold a lot of stuff. I have strings, hand cleaner, string winders, and little stuff in the small pocket, and my iPad and other things in the big pocket. It's not enough, though, for me to have everything in there and avoid a carrying bag. It doesn't hold speak ons, guitar cables, music stand lights, and the other 30 things I need to carry.
Still, on the whole, it does a nice job, and I'll probably upgrade my other basses to them when they need a new case.

I use Mono. I have a single dreadnought M80, a double electric M80, a double electric bass M80, two electric Vertigos and an electric bass Vertigo. They are phenomenal bags IMO. I have my pair of Dingwalls in my double M80, and my Sadowsky MV4 in a Vertigo. My Sadowsky Strat is in a Vertigo too. The Sadowsky semi-rigid cases are pretty, but immediately went to the loft in case I ever need to sell them.
+1 for Mono! I've had the dual M80 (bass) bag for about 7 years and recently added a Bass Sleeve. I also own the Producer bag and the Pedalboard Club bag. Their stuff isn't inexpensive, but so far, in my experience, it has been worth it!

One thing I don't like about the M80 is the pocket size (too small). The bottom of the case (when the bass is standing) is also lacking a bit in the protection area (I have an M80 from when they first started making them so maybe this design aspect has improved since then, I don't know).
The Vertigo pocket isn't as deep as the M80 but is bigger. I can get a micro head comfortably into the main pocket of both (I have a Genz Benz Shuttle 9.0 and a Gallien Krueger MB800). The Vertigo "boot" has better protection when the case is stood on the floor.

For those of you that have a recent Sadowksy hard case, do they look like the tear drop ones on the site or are they similar to a traditional G&G?
the hard cases are not tear-drop in shape, they are rectangular, like the G&G you mention.
