Verdine's Sadowsky sounded great last night. Jeff Coffey who replaced Jason Scheff in Chicago was fantastic as well.. (on a 70s? P bass)

I installed one in my 97 Fender Jazz Deluxe. It is the real deal. Sounds like a Sadowsky, looks like a Fender. I use it for the uneducated BL's here in PHX who expect a Fender and nothing else.
If you are looking for new options on upgrading your Fender... there's a new, drop in, three-knob onboard preamp on the site as of yesterday that does not need a side jack. Needs no soldering to install though either needs room in the cavity for a battery or a battery compartment. Solves the issue of having a bass that you don't want to drill for a side jack. The setup is vol/pan/t&b. The vol is a push/pull for active/passive.
The difference between this pre and the four knob is the VTC. If you want the vintage tone control (passive tone), you'll need the four knob. Also, you can take this off of the plate to install it on a different plate or on a pickguard (P/J bass with the right number of holes.

I can't say for certain that a battery won't fit but most basses will require additional routing or a battery box. I can't say what yours would need without actually seeing it.
No excavation of the control cavity is required. You do need to make room for a battery compartment....either under the pickguard or a separate battery box on the back.

I spent the afternoon with this stud in my hands. It made me feel so good. 
Here is an onstage photo of me and my MetroLine MV4 in action from last weekend. It was almost exactly a year ago that I ordered it - I really wanted a Trans Blue one and couldn't locate one, so I ordered it. It took 5 months for it to arrive, it came in April, so I've had it for 7 months. I have to say I love it even more now, it's just that good. It plays so nicely, and the sound is exactly what I always wanted. I'm still favoring the passive tone, blended a little toward the neck pickup, with the VTC rolled off just a little.
I wish I could get a nice onstage photo that shows how the ash grain looks under stage lights, but just haven't had a good one turn up yet. It does look amazing under the lights - the blue looks like a see-thru royal blue, and the ash grain is as plain as day.

Hey, not to make a pest of myself, but...anybody else have thoughts/comments/experience with ash/rosewood/singles?
Thnx! Yeah, my Metro is alder/rosewood/singles and hum's never been a problem. I keep the pups blended evenly (which makes them hum cancelling) and just cheat a little to one or the other as needed to get the flavor. In practice, have never needed to solo either pup.
I'm solid about going with singles, and was wondering about the body/fingerboard wood combo. I'm looking for a little more width/depth on the bottom than alder/rosewood, but a little less snap on the top than ash/maple. That's what got me onto ash/rosewood as the 'tweener.

I contacted Sadowsky using their provided form for that particular instrument , and i have done so twice now, and I still did not receive any reply.
I did inquire about several things, especially that the specs in the title for the instrument differs from the specification sheet once you click on the title for more details.
Is this normal ?
