Different subject:
I have a minor technical question. I think my MV4 is the first bass I've ever had that has adjustable tuners (the tension can be adjusted with a hex wrench, I think). Is there anything to this, or just tighten up a little if you like 'em tighter? Seems simple, but I wanted to ask in case there is anything to watch for. Thanks.

You only need to tighten them if the appear too loose when you lower the tension.....but feel free to adjust to your liking.
Over the past few months I have been on the fence about trading my RV5 away because something about the tone just didn't fit me. The single coils were too raw in the hi-mids, something just wasn't there. There were a couple good responses to a post I made recently that started to get me to a good sound and I think I finally got it. I used the search function! But seriously....
From trying settings others had posted, I'm now boosting bass and treble around 25-30%- with appropriate input gain on the amp of course. Now I really hear whats going on with the preamp. I was stuck in the "flat" or "slightly boosting the bass" thought pattern. The VTC definitely seems to have a greater (and cooler) effect the more you boost the B/T. Panning to one pup or the other is more defined now as well. I can get nice and crisp or a thick, deep reggae tone that I could just not make happen before. A little low-mid boost on my amp adds the right touch of goodness. I'm primarily a passive player, this preamp took a bit of time for me to grasp- I'm digging it quite a bit now!

After having Pat Wilkins paint it, I had Lisa strip the vintage finish and redo it with just a bit of oil, and it is exactly what I was looking for. If you've ever played a US Lakland, it is this kind of feel, so very natural wood fiber, plus the natural maple color comes through, which is what I really wanted. Got a fresh signature from Roger too. Couldn't be happier with it.

Yeah, IME that's a (ain't saying it's the only one) sweet spot. Pump the treble and bass EQ about a quarter, roll back the VTC to tame the highs to taste. Really comes alive, IMHO.

I've owned a couple of Sadowskys before, always ash/maple combo. But I'm really more of a rosewood/alder guy and it's been on my list to try a Sad in that configuration someday. So I was looking at the website (which I do regularly) and noticed this beauty - just about perfect specs-wise and I love the color. When I checked the price my jaw hit the floor. Evidently I missed the memo re the Satins. Just seems too good to be true, had to give this satin doll a tumble. I'll post a report once I've spent some time with it.

I have owned alder/rw, alder/maple, and ash/maple. Alder/rw is my favorite as well. I love that color as well, that bass looks like a home run!

Here's that single cut in action with the new pickup on the bridge--sorry, my hand is covering it here. This is me playing a Vintage version of the Single Cut yesterday in the show room. We also shot a video where Roger talks about it that we're trying to get up for early next week.

Only partly kidding. A build with roasted maple neck is calling me, but I don't yet have the budget.
The price of the Will Lee signature Metro increased by $300! Wow! It was around $2950 some time back, now it's in the $3300's. A question for the folks here - how big of a difference does that mid-range boost make? Is it a significant upgrade or addition to the amazing preamp? Or can you live without it?
I had one,, didn't really care for the mid boost, I love the sadowsky sound on my ms4 and rv4. but didn't think the mid boost added anything IMO.,I couldn't get use to the thinner nut size ., loved the extra fret though
