FYI/FWIW, the shop can build with the sim specs on non WL as well. At least, in terms of nut widths. My in progress build is spec'D for 1.45" nut and 9" radius. That's what a custom shop means and what a bunch of folks don't get.

The price of the Will Lee signature Metro increased by $300! Wow! It was around $2950 some time back, now it's in the $3300's. A question for the folks here - how big of a difference does that mid-range boost make? Is it a significant upgrade or addition to the amazing preamp? Or can you live without it?

I had a Metro Will Lee. I did not really care for the mid boost, but I did love the neck. I tried a few different settings on the mid-boost, but it just wasn't something I found myself ever using.

When I ordered my NYC V4PJ, I had them shave the neck to match the shape/feel of the Will Lee.

There are many flavors in the Sadowsky pre. That's why it's such a great tool. I find just having the pre on with no boost and no cut on the VTC is perfect. My amp is set basically flat with only a slight boost around 150-200 Hz. I do boost the bass and cut the VTC sometimes on certain songs. But, I agree that there are many hidden tones to be had in the pre. Dig it!!!

...and also yes! At first I was just boosting bass and treble a little to reach that "sweet spot" a lot of people here talked about, but lately I had fun experimenting how the VTC and Treble control interact. A passive treble cut somewhat acting like a low pass filter along with an active treble boost gives more note definition and high-mid / lower treble content with no excessive fret noise and gank in the 1 khz region. Mind you, this is with flatwounds

I mostly use rounds*, and regularly boost treble while cutting VTC. As noted by many, this adds nice presence without being piercing, harsh, etc.



*I usually keep flats on my alder/Brazilian P5!

Does anyone have a graph of the Sadowsky preamp EQ curve? Some good descriptions here about how the VTC interacts with the preamp, but it would be interesting to see what's happening as well.
