That did the trick. Threw single coils in the mv5 and they work perfectly. Exactly the sound I want. Little more growl which I like (new strings probably help too).

That is a design that Devon uses on his basses and it is fantastic. I won't receive this bass until this week as I'm waiting for the Nordstrand DC Pickups to arrive for install in the Wood covers. Devon is an incredible builder that builds basses that sound as good as they look. Here is my bass he's finishing up.

Those are the same pups they use in the modern but in traditional JJ spacing. As a purple fan. (See Below) I approve this bass!!!

Unfortunately, when a product becomes universally recognized as high quality and/or highly desired, copies (good and bad) begin to be made, and they eventually find their way into the mainstream market. Happens with Ray-Ban sunglasses, Iphone cords, Tiffany jewelry and hundreds of other things. Eventually they often get pretty good at the counterfeiting (but not in this case LOL).

Look how crooked and off center the pickups are... and it looks like somebody spilled coffee on the fingerboard.
