I ordered a couple sets of strings from Sadowsky back in Nov., and a set from another place. Got busy with the holidays and set everything aside and kind of forgot which strings were for which bass. I had ordered (2) 4-string sets from Sadowsky, but when the order arrived, one of the sets said it was a 5-string set. So I changed my plan and decided to use that 5-string set of Nickels on my MV5-PJ. So I started re-stringing it, and low and behold, it actually WAS only a 4-string set! Just the insert in the front of the package was for a 5-string set. I would just keep the existing B string on the bass for now, but it was one of the deadest ones on the bass. I did have a spare .125 GHS of some sort laying around, so I put that on for now.

None of this would be a big deal, but I start tech week on Sunday for 2 week run of a musical and the MV5-PJ will be getting most of the playing time. Worst case, I can just order another 5-string set, use the B from that set now, and save the E-A-D-G for my next Sterling string change.

I have the hum cancelling jazz pickups in my bass. From doing some research, I read that they were made by DiMarzio at one time. Not sure nowadays.

Mine has the DiMarzio era HC’s. They sound superb.

This is a gorgeous bass and an absolute pleasure to play. I've played bass since the late 80s and have owned a number of Sadowsky basses over the past 9 or so years, including a few Metros and a NYC. All of them were awesome in their own way but this one is particularly special to me because I finally realized that a P-bass has been the ideal voice for every band I've been in over the past several years. This instrument has the vintage feel I like with its 20 smaller frets, full size lightweight body, and classic look, combined with the killer preamp and the soapbox at the bridge. Coming from a Standard PJ4, which is great, I really like the soapy tone combined with the P. I'll get some sound samples up soon, but I wanted to share this photo (taken by Peter I think) and say how happy I am with my new Sadowsky.

Yup, mine looks exactly like that as well.

I remember when the Metros first came out and review sites always included a pic of the control cavity and some comments on how neat it was. It's definitely comforting to know they have a long history of great quality control.

I will say this about my new-to-me 2012 RV4: Best jazz bass I've ever played, and I played a LOT. When I was back on my quest to get a JJ bass, I tried everything I could get my hands on. I thought I had a dirty power issue - every one that had an active mode were really noisy, and passive just not as noisy.

This is dead silent till ya make'r growl.
