I have a similar problem. My jack needs replacing due to using a monster cable. I acknowledge that the cable is the culprit but what high quality cable do I replace it with?

I have bought some Livewire Elite's with Neutrik plugs, or Lava's ($50), and made some Mogami cables with Neutrik plugs with great success (about 1/2 the cost if you can solder).

I've used Lava cables in the past, and really liked them. I recently ordered some custom/made-to-order cables from PCNS Cables, and have been really impressed. Took a little while to get them, on account of them making them for me, but they're great quality. And I dig that they can print your name and stuff on them (making it a little harder for them to walk off).

I found out about them on the Dr Z amps forum a while back, and when I ordered, I used the discount code zamps to get 10 percent off my order. Not a shill, just a pleased user.

Cables: durability is what's important. Differences in tone (if any!) will be insignificant. I'll never use Monster (for multiple reasons). I like Mogami, but they are spendy. I've had equally good luck with reasonably priced alternatives such as D'Addario Planet Waves, Hosa, etc.

Heck, I even liked the skinny GeorgeL cables which you can make yourself (solderless) or get pre-made. The skinny cable looks cheesy, but I used them for years and they held up well... I stepped on them as much as any other cable I use, but no problem. Plus, I liked that they were easier to roll up than thicker ones. But no, they aren't as durable as thicker cables: a lead singer once tripped over my GeorgeL and yanked the cable out of the plug that was inserted into my bass. I suppose that was a better result than damaging the jack or toppling my amp head to the floor, but even so I now use my GeorgeLs as backups. They roll up into a compact coil, easy to fit into gig bag pockets, etc.

Another vote for Spectraflex.
I've also used Canare.
I am interested in Tsunami cables as the owner is a friend. but my Spectraflexes keep on truckin, so don't need any anytime soon.

One would think Monster, as a manufacturer of instrument cables, would follow an established standard, as well as the manufacturer of the jacks... who knows?

Not sure if there's really an answer but thought I'd throw this out there. Why would one Sadowsky bass be slightly louder than the other? Both have the same new batteries, string to pickup height is identical, same strings and both have the same P/U's, yet one has more volume output. Could it be body composition?

Pickup height has a big effect on volume. Also, Sadowsky pickups have been made by different vendors over the years. To his specs of course. We would have to ask Roger if output level is one of those specs...

NBD - this "used" NYC Deluxe Satin Vintage 5 (born Nov 2017) in Caramel Burst arrived today. I just had a 10 minute run through in my headphones with some music and I am totally in love. This replaces a 5 string Sadowsky metro. I seemed to be instantly a better player! Very impressed. I was totally sold on the tone of it as soon as I played it. I sold my Sadowsky RV 5 so that I'd be able to pick this one up. The Vintage model sounded great, but the Modern Series has more of a Ken Smith / Roscoe vibe to it.

I love that tone, and prefer the more traditional body style of the Sadowsky - and of course the Sadowsky preamp and pickups - so this is going to be perfect for me.
