Thank you. I really love it. It is a midrange monster. Cant wait to track a song with it. It has enough lowend to sit under a kick drum but tons of clarity so you can still hear all the notes being played. The tone control is a godsend. You can get a super bright treble active tone if needed, but i prefer to roll it back halfway and warm it up.

Have you tried it in passive mode? I like my Metro Jazz a lot on pasive mode as well. If you have, let me know how the P PUP behave by itself. I have a Fender PJ (not active, just an American Standard P that I added the J on the bridge) and I like it a lot and next year I'll be looking for a Sadowsky 5 strings and I'm debating myself between full J for PJ.
Oh yeah, I tried it in passive. The P sound has more low end than a Fender. Its a little more dense and compressed, but still sounds like a P bass. The passive mode is very good. Barely any volume difference when shifting from active to passive. If you go to YouTube and look for the Sadowsky HPJ review, I have the same tone as the dude playing the Sadowsky P in that video.
I'll take a 5 string of that please.
I had the good fortune to hang with the great bass player Jeff Allen here in NYC the other day. Jeff played for years with Duncan Sheik and subs on many Broadway shows. An absolute professional in every way. He was showing me his beautiful Sadowsky Metro series basses. Wow Roger. Man. Great job man. He has one in particlar that is white with a morado board...a PJ. What a perfect bass for most anything. Sorry I'm so late to finding out about the magic. Incredible basses. Bravo!

Wow, all these posts about Sadowsky PJ basses being so great... I totally agree and here's my 4. Similar to the Verdine White model, except with Madagascar rosewood and a fancy top that looks purple in the right light. This bass cuts through like no P bass I've ever had, yet it's also full and rich which supports the band really well.
Awesome. Love seeing these p/js popping out more and more. Sadowsky secret weapon. So many people just associate him with the J.
I am going to order some Sadowsky Blue Label flats next week for my P body Alder/RW PJ5. Just wondering how many of you are using these on your Sadowsky P5 or PJ5s? I actually enjoy high tension strings so the extra tension of flats have always been welcomed.
FYI : Have you guys noticed the new SADOWSKY hats and shirts? I will be ordering some of those also.

I'd be lying if I said that during my 10 month wait, I didn't second guess my decision to go P/J. For exactly the reason you stated; did I ruin the "Sadowsky formula" by adding the P?
So far, I'm glad I did. Although @puff father and I will be comparing soon (he just got a Satin JJ4).
Sadowsky blue label rounds are lower tension and I believe the same is true for the flats. I used the blue flats for awhile... Hard for me to describe the latest blues with certainty bc I had previously used TI flats which are lower tension. Also, the blue labels I had were not the newer reformulated ones.
Point being, don't assume that all flats are higher tension than rounds.
For me i just was sick of the J sound. I used it forever and it was not always easy to get the mids i wanted. The pbass has been a godsend for me. The sadowsky p/j has been even better than that so far. Its simply amazing in terms of tone.
I really like how thick the necks are too. Its a lot jucier than my fender jazz, but extremely easy to play. I guess this is standard because i remember sadowskys i have played in the past have had some nice thickness to the neck. Personally i prefer that to ultra thin necks.
I’m currently using all the latest reformulated strings...to achieve a similar “tension feel,” I use 45-130 Black and Blue rounds, and 40-125 Blue flats.
That said...the Black rounds have more tension than the Blue rounds, but not enough difference to make me want 40-125’s.
The reformulated Blue flats have slightly more tension than the prior Blue flats...but still waaay less tension than the discontinued Black flats.
I must say...I really, really LOVE the reformulated Blue Flats! Strong fundamental, same great feel, much more consistent string to string, and the slightly higher tension...were some nice improvements!
(Btw, I’m also finding the new Black rounds hold up a long time...

Im going to stay with rounds for now but id love to hear flats on a sadowsky pj. Wonder if there are some sound samples out in the wild.
