The metros have a nitro finish on the necks and a poly finish on the bodies.
So my Bass arrived in the ICS postal center in NYC from Japan. Now it’ll sit there for a bit. From what I’ve read could be up to two weeks. Anyone have any info on why something would sit for so long in a post office. I would assume once it’s scanned and verified for correct addresses wouldn’t it leave within 24 hours to the destination? I’m only an hour n half away.
I wasn't home to receive a certified piece of mail, awhile back...
... next day, I took the notice to the Post Office, which was extremely busy at the time, and of course... one window clerk.
My turn came, and I handed him the notice... he's looking here, he's looking there, looking everywhere for this certified... can't find it. Felt like 10 minutes to me, but I'm sure it was a lifetime to him. I can hear a gaggle of customers shuffling behind me...
The clerk turns and asks if I had moved recently...
... I reply, "I was just going to ask you the same thing."
Its customs man. They go through packages that come in. Shouldn’t take too long but again - patience.
I know patience is required. But that GAS is hittin me pretty hard knowing it’s an hour n change away.
I know the pain. I had a bass in customs. Think it took around 3 days to clear.
Well, I've never been to the ICS postal center in NYC, but I'm envisioning that warehouse scene at the end of Indiana Jones... :-/
Whatever the reason for the delay there, you should keep these things in mind:
1. You weren't scammed by Ishibashi
2. Your beloved Sadowsky is now on U.S. soil (only an hour and a half away)
3. You've already waited a couple weeks (nothing, compared to a 9 or 10 month wait for an NYC build), so what's another week or two?

I really love the strings that came stock on my new Metro from Japan. Are those the Nickle version of the Blue Label?
I suspect yes. Nice strings, but nickels are not for me. If you get a wild hair try some flats.
Flats on a modern bass are so much more lively than on a passive fender.
Well my worry on being scammed is having seen the fakes out there and well I spent a year in Asia while in the military and am well versed in knock offs lol. I remember seeing a Spector which had Stu’s name spelled wrong on it....
My Metro came with Steels. A little "grabby" at first but I prefer them over the Nickels.
You wouldn’t believe it and neither did I but it was spelled Stewart...yes this was a thing...it was at a music store near Osan Airbase.
Flats on a Sadowsky Modern? Hmm...I have a Satin Modern on the way.
Speaking of Moderns... Now that I got my NYC with SC's it's kind of redundant with my Metro RV5 also loaded with SC's...

Just logging in for the first time in several days, so pardon me if this has been discussed recently (or a thousand times prior), but I put the Blue label flats on my Metro WL4 recently and... WOW! That sound is just amazing!!! Thump, grunt, pop... tone for daaaays. The WL4 had taken a back seat in recent months to my Metro MV5-24 and (more recently) a Fender Tony Franklin P-bass, but it's hogging nearly all the playing and gigging time now!
Nice. I ordered some Labella FLs, but if for some reason I don't like them I will try these Sadowskys. What other flats do you use and how do they compare to the blue labels? I currently have some Chromes on mine and they are quit good too.
