I broke this one out last night for the first time in a while. It's still such an amazing bass. Every note has a thickness and weight to it that you don't usually get anywhere except the B and E strings on most basses. I love this one.
I also have a smoking Modern 5 that I need to dig out of its case. The slap sound on that bass always blows my mind.

My bespoke NYC WL5 is fantastic, the best instrument I've ever owned. There's just one thing about it I don't love quite so much, and that's the angle at which it settles on the strap. I'd prefer the neck aimed a bit closer to vertical, the way my unchambered Metro does.
Yeah, it's great how light it is on my shoulder. I've got some (ahem) orthopedic challenges going these days, and the light weight is nice. Now, my left wrist would be happier in first position if the neck were just a tad more toward vertical...
Was wondering if extending the straplock on the upper horn by a bit would have that effect. Like use a longer screw and add a piece of tubing as a spacer to move the straplock button (it's a Schaller) a little out from the wood.
Thoughts? Experiences?

Definitely... I'm going to have to get another, too. Strapped the Ric on, the other day, and it was sliding on me, almost neck dive... straight leather, no suede...
... maybe, I can use it for a pre-work out stretching routine?
Suede backed, neoprene, and wider straps all minimize this issue. Suggest trying one or two of those.
Might be a good idea to talk with Roger or Lisa. For sure, they have worked with other players on this issue. The body chambering does have some significant upsides. Balance isn’t one of them.

Hiyah, Paul! Thanks for the suggestion about asking the shop mavens.
I use wide straps, and for a good while used neoprene. What I found is that with a strap that won't slide over the shirt, it just tends to pull the shirt fabric.
Onstage, I find myself fussing with the strap between tunes. And I've realized that I tend to keep a little downward pressure on my right forearm where it goes over the body contour.
It ain't a deal-killer. Just wondering if there were a way to balance it a bit more toward the bridge end of the bass.
Finally...A Verdine White -5-er. I just had to have it.
EWF is the soundtrack of my life.
If Roger had designed a stringed steam shovel bearing the name of the brothers White...I would have bought it.
That white just pops! Great choice. I love my Verdine 5. It's quickly become my favorite bass (although my Satin JJ5 is very close behind).
I took a Satin Series Verdine White PJ 5 for a spin about a month ago. It was an excellent instrument!

Confirmed! The MetroExpress basses are now shipping to dealers on a regular basis and we should be getting them in the shop regularly as well.

Had been rehearsed and gig with this bass in real world for a month and so. Never thought I will use this bass a lot since I'm always a Single coil guy but this one just really spoke to me, I just love the controlled low and nice top end from the pickups while there is nice mid range to cut thru mix because of the pu location offered.
Another keeper...
