The grey silk is our "old" Black Label. The black silk is the current Black Label.

Thank you for clarifying this for me. I picked up a couple sets of blue label nickels from the TB store and they come tomorrow. I'll definitely pick up a black label set in the near future to compare.

I do have to say that this bass is simply amazing and it's a dream come true to own and play one of your basses.

Also: a number of us love to combine active treble boost with passive treble cut. The two controls behave differently and do NOT simply cancel each other out!

This is a good tip. There are a lot of sounds in the preamp/VTC combo.

Active 100% for rock/metal. Bass up 20%, treble 60%.

Passive 40-80% for funk/soul/pop. Depends on rig, room and songs. When active: bass slightly boosted...maybe 10%, treble 2/3 to as much as 100% (old stainless strings) and passive tone rolled off 1/3-2/3.

You are not buffing off the finish. You hand is simply polishing the finish. I have always felt that a broken in satin finish has a much better feel than starting off with a gloss nitro finish. I also love the feel of a vintage bass where the finish has completely worn off the back of the neck. If you want to maintain the satin feel, you need to lightly sand the finish with some very fine sandpaper, like 320 grit. But that will also accelerate wearing through the finish over time.

If you want to keep everything like new, don't play it!

Thank you Mr. Sadowsky, probably I am going to sending the finish with light sandpaper for feeling that satin feel again on my black Sadowsky and I like to change the tuners of my red Sadowsky which has significant neck dive, by the way Gotoh Tuners on the bass are great but they are too heavy and cause neck dive. So which tunning pegs should I buy for reducing the neck dive, can you give me an exact product name. (Have seen bass side and treble side I don't know what's the meaning lefty and standard playing maybe ? )

Somewhat lucky it's a 4 string. I know there's a 5 string lake placid but I prefer the dark. I currently have a lake placid blue satin performer P but it's no Sadowsky...

My only saving grace protecting my money is that it's for items already in stock. I almost never have money for upfront for a sale like this.

...But I would likely have at least a minimum down payment available to put a new bass in the build queue and then I'd have a few months to finish paying the balance. Possibly for a future sale, I wonder if @Sadowsky might consider a sale on those initiating new builds.

Amen. That was happening naturally on my 2005 NYC P5 -- meaning, the nitro was wearing away from the treble side of the neck (wedding ring probably the culprit) -- so I used 320 grit to accelerate the process. Didn't oil it, just left it. It could use another layer or two of my DNA, but it feels great now and has a nice grungy look.

I haven't done this with my other two Sadowskys. The necks are currently worn glossy, but no wear-through (I stopped wearing the wedding ring). I will re-matte them when I get a chance. I agree that gloss nitro feels better than gloss poly, but I prefer matte over both.

Battery pack for FretFX LED strip. I often play dark bars with bands that have crappy or nonexistent light shows. I can do a lot without looking down but unfortunately I still have to use side dots for reference when making radical position shifts.

Well, I swapped out the SC pups for HC pups and I have to say, the HC sound just like Single coils in my opinion.

Me, too. I put the bass (active) into a Noble preamp, and send that to the console or DAW. Engineers have always liked it, just like that.
