Club Sadowsky!!!

Well since I have the new fretless in the house.......I was compelled to take a family photo :ninja: So here are the new and the old (Right: 2009 NYC Fretless / Left: 1988 NYC "SWR")

BTW, I had the neck of the new one re-shaped to match the '88....and man they nailed it to a tee!

You've got an incredible pair there my friend. I only WISH I could settle on two basses that would get me through. That fretless is really off-the-hook. Congrats! :bassist:

I need some help deciding, please share your opinion.
I just recently purchased this lovely standard NYC in transparent white. As I'm used to playing my Metro MV4 I really miss having a PG. I just can't get used to the large strings/body distance. I was fortunate to get an additional PG with my Metro so I tried putting it on my NYC and it fits perfectly.
My thoughts are, does it look good (it certainly has this "Alleva Coppolo vibe"), will it change the value of the instrument, should I go ahead and attach it permanently? Drilllllll :atoz::atoz:

I really like the look of the bass with the pickguard but if you're not sure you can use double sided tape to keep it there until you make up your mind. You cal also cut some screws and light glue their heads in the screw holes (simulating that the pickguard is screwd to the body).

Actually it seats so tight as it is that I don't think a double tape is needed. It will only push the pg away from the body.
I do like the way it looks but it's a one way ticket once I drill those holes.

BTW, Musicfreak1988, I played in your town last September at a Texaco event at the port (20 min walk from downtown)

Not great recordings (or playing) but I hope that good enough for those of you that don't have a chance to A/B these basses in real life.

Nice! How did you like Antwerp, if you've seen any of it?

As for the PG: if you say it's such a tight fit, why just don't let it on without any screws or tape?

Anyway, If you consider drilling holes, just think about whether you're ever going to sell the bass...
For example, I'm never going to sell my first bass and a white Fender I have, so I modded a few things on those basses.

If you're not sure, I'd still opt for very thin double sided tape...

We had only 2 and a half days total. Most of the time we were... actually doing nothing but they wouldn't let us go in case they needed us :(
We did get one evening free so we checked out your bars. You got some serious local beer there buddy! We had a blast. The older part of the city is really nice too.

So in this beer atmosphere I will check how the bass feels on a gig, with the pg on as is.
Regarding keeping the bass... how can one know. I love it now. I think it's the beginning of a wonderful friendship, but you know how it is.

I kinda like it bare, myself. I always have a hard time with the halfway effect of the PG without the control plate, or the other way 'round.

Especially in this case, as that colour scheme gives the bass such a nice minimalist look.

IMO and YMMV and all the rest...
